98 Making a squeaking noise when AC is on.

I have noticed that whenn my AC is on, it makes like a squeaking noise. Very annoying, and it makes me just turn it off cause it gets louder the higher i put my AC on. Any help please?

Remove the glove box and pull the blower motor off. Give a good cleaning and lubricate the motor bushings with few drops of motor oil.

Keep in mind to remove the resistor pack and the motor wire plug before pulling the blower motor.

Not meaning to thread jack, but on the topic of AC noises, has anyone experienced a faint click, about every 2 minutes or so, when AC is on?

Definitely coming from the glove box area...sounds like a relay or something clicking on and off. I thought it might be related to the 'Auto' button, but it does it regardless of Auto being on or off.

Mine likes to "chirp" once in awhile when the ac is on. Im guessing its like a clutch inside the compressor or something, but its been doing it for years so I guess Ill fix it whenever it decides to give up the ghost

squeaking noise if heard from outside is probrably a loose a/c belt....check tension on the belt to see if its loose

Could be the compressor bearings

I would guess relay too, but should my A/C compressor cycle every minute or two? The click is at a pretty constant interval...

I'd start by checking the AC belt. Open the hood, find the compressor and the belt that runs it. Check for glazed and/or cracks.

While your head is under the hood have someone get in and turn the AC on. If the noise is quick, like a slipping belt, you may have found your problem.

If it looks ok loosen the keeper blot and tighten the belt a bit and then re-tighten the keeper bolt. It should be pretty tight but don't go reefing on the thing.

If the noise is more of a clunk or metal type sound it may be the compressor or the clutch. Constant whining or noise could be the bearing. Depending on how bad it might be the clutch may have to be engaged to hear it.
