98 T4R Owners, Need some HELP

I’ve been chasing a miss ever since I cleaned my K&N air filter. I think I added to much oil and some of the oil got into the MAF. I’ve cleaned and it and the miss is still present.

I had a newer model maf/air box and tried to use that unit by re-pinning the maf connector. I worked until I cycled the key and it started to miss worse.
I bought a replacement (NAPA) Maf and I put the pins in the connector back to what I thought was the original spot.

Could I have some of you post up a picture of the mass connector so I can see the wire colors?

THANKS!

Post 8 and 9 in the following thread

97 maf to 99 conversion without air box swap!

So I went to pick up a used MAF off a 1997 and take a look at how the connector was pinned. It’s color coded like the diagrams above.

It ran nice and smooth and drove awesome but as soon as I cycled the key and restarted the engine the miss returned!

I guess I need to start looking at other things.

if you have access to an obd-II scan tool hook it up and check for pending codes if no codes look at your fuel trims and see if it's running lean or rich.

Well, the number 4 cylinder is misfiring.
I swapped the coils to see if the miss would change cylinders. It didn’t.

So what does that leave me? Injector or computer?

swap out the spark plug in 4 with a good one if that doesn't solve it then replace the injector.

I already changed all 6 plugs and wire set.

Have you checked for spark on cylinder #4? If you have spark then I would lean more towards injector than ecm. Typically a bad ecm will cause multiple misfires and other wonky issues.

Try cleaning your Idle Air Control Valve. If oil fouled your MAF, it could have also fouled your valve and caused it to idle very poorly.

AFE Power sells an oiled or dry filter that's similar to K&N. The AFE oil doesn't foul the sensor, they were the official suppliers of the 3rd Gen TRD air filter and intake line. Yes, there was a TRD intake, TRD headers, TRD supercharger and TRD exhaust made for 3rd Gens. Yeehaw!

Swapped the injector from the number 4 cylinder and so far so good. Going to replace all 6 if it really did fix it.
