Appreciate all the kind words guys! I cant wait to get this swap started. We definitely need to all get together sometime. Does anyone know where I can find online service manuals? I've searched but couldnt find the 98 4runner and 00 tundra. I might just have to buy them both.

It has begun!!
Removing the 4.7
3.4l v6 for sale!! Timing belt/wp/seals/gaskets/plugs/wires/coils etc all done less than 10k ago. Engine has 180k on it, PM me if interested!
Now the hard part... trying to study the diagrams...Singtoe if you can lend a hand with this I will be forever grateful and indebted to you as I am starting to get lost here lol
I started a list trying to match up components from the 5vz to the 2uz but there are a number of components I cant match up. Also, the B-R power wire from the ignition connects to a lot of components but not sure how to match that all up. Anywho, just trying to do whatever I can since the garage I'm doing the work at is in Rolesville and I live in Cary. Figure I'll try to tackle some of the wiring and do my homework on it since Im not at the garage with the drivetrain.
A few thoughts...
I'd like to use the push button 4hi/4low buttons that come with the tundra, would that make it more difficult or should I stick with my transfer case? FYI, I dont have multimode or AWD, just 4hi and 4low in the J configuration. Also, the tundra push button seems to be integrated to the hvac unit thats connected to the clock and etc, not sure how difficult that will be to wire.
As far as cooling goes, I'd like to try to reuse my 4runner radiator as it is like BRAND new, just put a Denso unit it less than a year ago. I know the inlet is on the opposite side with the 4.7 but Im curious if I can plumb a hose to that side. We will see how that goes.

I have my wiring notes from my swap. Take a Trip out to my shop and I'll show you everything I have done.
You'll need the Tundra 4x4 ecu but you can use generic buttons to control it.
I would use a center diff lock button from and 2001-02 4runner, Camery 4wd switch and the ECT switch as it is no longer used with the swap to kick it into low range.

I'm going to try to work longgg nights and days off to finish this as quick as possible. But I will not rush or cut corners, I will make sure it is done right and it is reliable.

It and just scrapped the body. Now comes the hard part, never made mounts before lol I appreciate that, I've got the original one for it. We all need to meet one time, gotta finish the truck though.

Ahh man I wish I had a donor for my swap. Good start! Rob did a nice job when it comes to the mounts.
Do you have your wiring figured out? Take really good notes. When I started I had both the tundra and Tacoma diagrams for my swap. I started making a spread sheet with what wire went where. One wire at a time. Take your time and do it right. The last thing you want it to have to figure out what wire is what 2 years from now and you don't have notes. Since you are keeping the auto you should have no problems getting your truck right. I would look at the wiring for the transfer case. I bet all it needs is the ecu and wiring plus the buttons. The wiring should already be done all you have to do is move it over to your 4runner and find a nice way to mount buttons. I know rob has your back but feel free to hit me up too. I followed robs lead on some stuff but found my own way in other areas.
P.S. you don't need the two speed fuel pump resistor.

Appreciate all the info. Yeah rob has been real nice and patient with all my questions. I've already begun my wiring notes, I have most of it figured out but I'm sure I'll have questions lol. I was curious, I didn't keep the front diff or actuator off the front axle but I have the tundra transfer case with the push button 4wd. Can I make that work or should I stick with my 4runner transfer case?

Does your 4runner have ADD? Do you remember if the tundra had a vacuum or electronic Motor? If you keep your j shift tcase it would be easier, but nothing is impossible....

The tundra had an electronic one and mine does have ADD. I don't mind reusing my j shift, just curious how far back it will move.
