Way to go that is so sweet!, I would love to do that swap. My dd has that motor in it and it's always a little disappointing getting in the 4runner. Even S/c'd, urd'd and geared, the low end torque from dead stop doesn't compare to the v8's. Like the say "no replacement for displacement".

Hey guys,

I just got this truck in spring of this year and it was completely stock but in great shape. NO rust at all, 3.4 v6, auto, 170k miles, good clean base so I got to work. Did a ton of stuff to it and I will list mods later, just want to show some pictures at its current state now. Sitting on 3in lift with toytec coils in the front and bilstein shocks all around and OME springs in the rear. I also added a 2inch body lift from toytec, tundra big brakes, 33's and redid all engine work including timing belt, seals, gaksets, everything and all other maintenance required. Still have many plans for it, (of which the first on my schedule includes a 4.7 v8 swap) but for now it is a fun daily I just go to and from work in. Enjoy!

FINALLY!!! It runs perfect, nice and smooth. The reason it shut off in the video is because the MAF wasn't hooked up. Now to button it up and do some burnouts :lookout:

And yes, the 3.4l v6 was nice, but the v8 is TONS better as far as smoothness and power goes with it being stock. Way worth it. I pretty much broke even doing this swap which is good because it was quite a bit of work. All in all, very worth it. I will get pictures and more video up.

Like I told you the other day, someone else spent WAAAAYYYYY more time on the phone, emails, and texts helping me do over a year and a half what you did it in just a few months. Congratulations. I look forward to getting the 3 V8 amigos out and running around together.

Alright guys I have a little dilemma,

The tundra swap is great, runs well drives great, very smooth. Before I pulled the motor from the tundra it drove fine and no problems. However! I keep getting codes P1300, P1315, P1330 and sometimes the CKEL light flashes after I swapped it in the 4runner. However, the truck never misses! Its always smooth, the idle is always good, it never feels like it misses but those codes will come on. Sometimes they wont come on for a while. Not sure what it can be. Also, the truck doesnt rev past 3.5k RPMS, even if the codes are not present and there is no CKEL, it still shifts at 3.5k everytime. Plugs are new OEM toyota, new timing belt kit all toyota, I am using MAF and airbox from 08 4.7 4runner, please help! Don't know what could be causing this and its making me pull my hair out. I was thinking maybe I didn't wire something right but sometimes it takes tons of driving before the check engine light comes on, sometimes it comes right on. Any insight?

update: All is fixed! So far so good, running like a dream and smooth :bravo::bravo::bravo::bravo:

Charged the a/c today, cooling very well! Also connected 4wd, everything is engaging well. Ran out of room under the dash so I hooked up the integration control panel and put it under the passenger seat, I will get some pictures soon.

Alright gang, I need some help! Rob or Daylon, or anyone familiar with wiring please give me some input. I have one wire left and cant figure it out! I made a diagram with an explanation of what I'm trying to do, please let me know if I'm making it more complicated than its supposed to be or what. Thank you!

MREL. It looks like on my 4runner power goes through the fuse to number 1 on the efi relay. On the Tundra, it looks like the PCM controls the EFI relay as it MREL wire goes straight from PCM to #1 on the efi relay. I wonder if this is the cause of my o2s, heaters, cat and evap to not set readiness? SInce the 5a efi fuse has power going from it to all those components?

The 98 5vz uses the key to engerize the efi relay. the 99 and up 5vz has a MREL wire to energize the EFI relay.

You do not need to wire the MREL wire because your circuit is working.

Question. Does the white and blue wire of the of plug A spots 1 and 2 have power when the key is on?

Because if it does then everything is good already.

So I know I'm about a year late to reply but thanks to Singtoe and Daylon and everyone else who helped me with the swap. I got everything working, passed inspection last year without a hiccup and has been driving fine with the 2uz ever since! Here are some pictures at Uwharrie:

So.... had a good run with the 2uz 4wd transfer case. Actuator rod inside transfer case is frozen and its stuck in 4lo...pretty common on these electric shift cases from what I've read. Seeing that the actuator is about 1 grand and Toyota has discontinued it, no local dealer has it or can get it. SO... I went back to old school J shifter that originally came with the 98 v6 4x4. I reinstalled all the vacuum lines, put the old vacuum front diff actuator in. This transfer case is pretty simple, theres no 4wd ecu on this model so I cleaned up the wiring from the 2uz 4wd ecu and made a little room. Now heres my question, the v6 transfer case has three switches, the left side upper is the hi/lo switch, the second is neutral and the passenger upper switch is 4wd. I'm attaching both 2uz 4wd diagram and 5vz if someone can help me out. I've wired the 5vz transfer lo switch (L/R II3 #7) to 2uz (L/R IE2 #24) and the 5vz 4wd switch (G/R II3 #17) to 2uz (G/R IE2 #3). Now, I had the 5vz neutral indicator wired up but everytime I would go into 4lo, the 10a gauge fuse would blow. I noticed on the 2uz transfer case theres a plug there where the neutral would be and I noticed on the 2uz diagram that the 4wd ECU controlled the neutral shift as well as the other shifts. Is there anything else I need to do to get this to work? Do I need to wire up the neutral transfer switch or just leave it out?

I've been dormant for a little while now, between getting a new house, work and a 10 month old, life has been keeping me busy! The truck has been stuck in the garage for a few months now and its driving me crazy, just trying to get the 4wd figured out and then off to uwharrie!
