Just change the oil.. You will have a total mess of oil just trying to change the filter.

Just either do an oil change early or wait till the next one, a non OEM filter won't hurt the engine.

your fine, you wont loose any more oil than a normal oil change. if u want to go ahead and replace it. good to go!

I'm taking your word on this tomorrow. haha. I started running Royal Purple. I plan on replacing the filter every 6,000 and the oil every 12,000. I may send it in for a sample test at 12,000.

Aren't you supposedly a Toyota mechanic?

My job in the service department is to change timing belt, clean engines, and repair. Any related to like tail lights / lights , stereo, windows , seats , alarm , roof racks, floors its not my job is the Toyota accessories department. Not all mechanics of Toyota know about everything. I have
Newbie in the service department like doing minor to major service basic stuff. My knowledge is on the engine only.
Also my son has a 3rd gen 4Runner and use this account.
My salary is $39.67 per hour plus 4% of service commission for 8 hours a day and 5 days a week.
Some times I can't finished my service work on the Toyota land cruiser and tundra I ask 3 hours overtime.
