99 4Runner has no balls!

As mentioned above, plugs and wires and as branded above, NGK or Denso. I would also suggest the wires be OEM as well, but that's just me. Air filter, oil filter, PCV valve, just a general tune-up.

So my plan of action at this point is to Seafoam, Change Oil, Filter, PCV Valve Plugs and Wires..

Air filter is brand new already, I already purchased NGK plugs (double tipped).

The only other thing that is a pain in ass still is the gas gauge doesn't work anymore. I've looked around and can't find a clear resolve to that problem. Any advice on that?

Once I get maintenance out of the way I'll move on to suspension and exterior!

The gas gauge is one of two things, and electrical short in the system (maybe it's unplugged on the back of the gauge?) or more likely, the float sensor in the tank bit the dust. Which would mean dropping the tank and disassembling it which is a ton of work.

If you'd rather use the odometer, you tank holds 19 gallons and you probably average around 17-18 MPGs. Doing simple math that means your range is about 323 miles if you drove it till it died.

What he said. My gauge does work, but I generally drive by mileage. I typically try to make sure I fill up around 250 miles on the odo. Otherwise like he said, probably going to have to drop the tank.

The problem in initial post was CAT bed. Why did code for cat bed P0420 not show up? I am banking on lack of that code to say my CAT bed is good? Is that a bad assumption? I have a 99 which has one cat bed, not two.

You know, that's interesting I thought the same thing. If the CAT is clearly clogged why is their no code. Then I thought... if the CAT is clogged it will essentially remove MORE of the fuel exhaust in the A/F mixture which would actually not trip the P0420 because that code is for flagging CAT inefficiency which would be a fuel heavy exhaust mixture.

Qualifying statement: Yesterday on my way home after sea foaming and changing my oil I got a CEL. Sure Enough it's the P0420. I need to find that thread that had the rear O2 sensor hack with the cap and the resistor to fix that permanently.

Oh and funny story about my oil change. Truck was leaking oil all around the pan and so i thought, great, a shade tree thought he could change the pan seal and messed it up. But when I got up under the truck my heart almost stopped.

The Oil filter was literally spinning it was so loose. About a can of break cleaner, a roll of paper towels and hour later I had finally changed the oil and voila. No more leaks.

So the saga continues, now that i can drive it and I do regularly I've noticed I need to change either the wheel bearings or the U Joints. And my damn ABS light is STILL on. Good thing I love this truck lol.
