99 Driveshaft

I'm about to order a new driveshaft from Tom Custom Driveshaft.

Mine's a 99 4x4 ltd, anyone know the flange bolt spacing for the front and rear and the length?

I measured 45 1/2" shaft, Round flange (4") and i believe it's a (2.5") spacing from bolt to bolt, but Tom said he think it's (2 3/8"). Can anyone confirm if it's 2.5" or 2 3/8" for the bolt pattern? thnx

Which end are you talking about? My dims were different between the T/C side & the rear diff side. I had 2.375" on one side & 2.6" on the other. Measure them again so you get the correct DS delivered. 5 speeds & 3rz's can be different. My DS is 48.625". That's why he doesn't save sizes.

Thanks, i got my measurement and it's on order with Tom, be here by friday.

My front is 2 5/8" , rear is 2 3/8" and 45.5" length.

Tom is da man, nice gold seals for the new joints and the new CV joints are replaceable in the future when needed.

do i need to align Tom's DS with any marking or just align the bolts, tighten and go?

Did you replace the bolts on the axle end? If so, what'd you use? I've got a Tom Woods driveshaft in mine but the OEM bolts on the pinion flange aren't long enough with the thicker TW DS flange. Any M10 class 10.9 or 3/8-24 hex head bolts that I've found have heads that are too big to fit in the counterbore on the driveshaft flange.

Right now I've got some black oxide 3/8-24 socket head cap screws in it but those are going to rust immediately.

I used the OEM bolts but without the washers. The first 3 threads of a threaded fastener see pretty much all of the tension load.

Yep, that's what I ended up having to do. Add blue loctite and torque to spec. The ends of the bolts were juuuust barely flush with the ends of the nuts, so full thread engagement is good enough for me.
