99 Limited key fob program

anyone every programmed a key fob? I got one from ebay and came with instructions and have tried several times and can not get it to work. New batteries by the way. I did call dealership and they confirmed i have a factory setup and i checked the numbers on back of the remote and they match the two broken ones i have that do not work either. Any advice? THANKS

Thanks i read and did see more to directions but didn't help me for some reason. i have 2 99 4runners limited and can not get either to work. My door locks stop working after the first toggle and i even tried to help them out a few times thru the process with no luck. guess i will have to go to stealership.

It often takes running through the steps several times to get it to work. It seems to be a timing thing where you don't have to be off by much. It's one of those things where, if you have to stop and look at the next step, it takes too long. When I first got my runner last year, neither remote worked. I put fresh batteries in both of them and then followed the steps to program. It wasn't until I got to the point could execute the steps by memory that it worked.
