99' missing and shudders

Got a 99' limited with 180k. new to the forum but have been reading on here for 2 days trying to solve my problem hope you guys can help. at 1600 rpms and around 50 -55 mph my truck shudders and misses. I put in all new ngk plugs and wires. did not fix. then I got the CEL read and says misfire on cyl 6, swapped out coils and the misfire did not follow the coil. CEL still says cyl 6. I have seen other guys have this problem but it seems most of the time the coil packs or wires/ plugs fixes it. what else can I check? injector bad? any help appreciated, this seems like a simple fix. hope I can figure it out before I gotta take it to the dealership....

You could pull the spark plug to see if there's oil on the plug. Sometimes the spark plug tube seal will leak and allow oil to contaminate the plug causing a miss.

Also you could check the injector like you said. The resistance is supposed to be 13.8 ohms.

Same Problem with Missing at 50 MPH

I am having the same issue when I get to 50 MPH. If I accelerate at a slow enough rate I won't have it. But normal acceleration causes my truck to stutter until about 65 mph. I am changing plugs and wires and boots today. I noticed one of the spark plug cylinders has a lot of gunk at the bottom. Is this a sign of leaking oil? If so, how to correct? Thanks.

OP, since you've already done plugs and wires and swapped coil packs, the problem is likely the injector now. You can test the resistance (like scottyb said), but an injector can still be plugged and read the correct resistance.

If it's not the injector (and we know it's not plugs/wires/coil), then it could be a few more things. Even a plugged fuel filter could cause this, but since it's isolated to the #6 cyl, I doubt it. Still a good idea to replace the fuel filter anyways though. If it isn't the other simple things already mentioned, it could be a bigger issue like a burnt valve, bad head gasket, or a cracked head. Don't worry yourself yet, I'm thinking it's the injector too, but if that doesn't work, you'll at least know where to go from there.

i had the same thing happen. burnt out ignition coil and wiring.

tried to run some injector cleaner thru...seemed to work then came back. just ordered some new injectors. thanks for replies.

so are you doing new injectors all around now? do the fuel filter as well for sure. that should definitely fix the problem.

plan is to do the 3 injectors on that side. gonna pick up a fuel filter at auto zone tomorrow.

Don't do it. If you stick with OEM parts your truck may make it to 200k miles with AutoZone well it will probably throw a CEL sooner or later.

Mine was doing the same thing, faulty injector on cylinder 4 for me. OEM replacement and its all better!

new fuel filter and 3 new injectors, problem seems to be fixed. replacing injectors not that hard of a job just getting to them was a pain. thanks for the input.
