'99 seats into '98?

I did a little searching but didn't come up with an answer.

I think I know the answer, but wanted to see if anyone here could tell me for sure; Will leather seats from a '99 Limited bolt directly in to a '98 Limited? I imagine they will.

We just bought my son a '98 Limited with leather seats that have seen much better days. Yesterday I found a near-mint set in a junkyard in a '99. I can get the whole set for around $130. Wanted to dbl-chk before pulling/buying them.

I would think they would. Best bet is to take some measurements of seats and bolt pattern.

Follow-up

A follow up here in case anyone else has the same question;


I measured the bolt holes for the seats, and everything measured out the same. I snagged all four seats from a local junkyard for a steal! $110 for all 4 leather seats, cargo cover/shade, and some little odds and ends.arty:

The rears swapped in without a hitch. Heck, my 16yr-old (with little to no mechanical experience) bolted them in. :biggrin1:

On the fronts, the driver's-side, the elec. connector plugged right in and the seat bolted in without issue.

I sat the Pass-side into position and started to plug in the elec. connector. Arggh! Our first snag. The wiring harness in the truck ('98) was a two-wire connector. The new seat ('99), had a three-wire connector that was shaped slightly differently. The extra wire on the '99 seat went up to the female-end -seat belt buckle. I'm guessing that maybe in '99 they added a sensor that sensed when someone was sitting in that seat and buckled either for automatic disarming of the airbag (small child/person sitting in the seat), or a seatbelt warning light......just a guess. No matter, we had a problem.

I decided the best route to take was to swap the tracks. While a little time-consuming, swapping the seat tracks was pretty simple. 4 bolts per side allows you to remove the seat upper and lower section. We swapped and were able to put in the new seat leather, on the old track which plugged into the wiring as stock, retaining all power functionality of the seat.
