A/C seems to be on constantly.

I don't know if other people have experienced this but even with the A/c off, when I park the T4R after a drive water is dripping from the area where condensation drips with the A/c on.

This leads me to believe that the compressor is running when it shouldn't.

Is this normal?

Do you mean you see a puddle on the ground after you shut the vehicle off? If so, that's totally normal for a while as the system is still cold and water is condensing on it.

is it in defroster or max A/C? if yes then your AC is running. You gotta dial the temp back a notch to keep it out of the MAX A/C setting.

Also if it's a humid day, that box is cooler and essentially a great spot to form dew on... so I could see it condensing to a degree just naturally if you have it on fresh air all the time...

As stated previously, defrost uses AC to remove condensation on the windshield. Many/most vehicles do this. I'm not sure why a previous post recommend avoiding Max AC. Max AC closes the blend door. Only cools the already cool air in the cab. Easier for the system to maintain cool in the cab. Regular AC opens the blend door. This requires the AC system to work harder. It now has to cool warm outside air.


I prefer to park my vehicles either flat or nose pointed slightly down hill to allow the system to drain. If parking in a garage activate the heat just before getting home. This helps melt any built up ice. Our 4Runner doesn't seem to have a ice build up problem. Some vehicles are more prone to the problem.

Yeah. I think this must be it. After some closer observation, it seems to be just a slight variation. I live in Maine and rarely use the a/c so I was confused as to why it would be condensating.
