A couple questions...

Back in 2000, I bought, and built up a new Taco Xcab SR5. It was set up to go around the world. One of the things I put in it, and really loved, was a PowerTrax no-slip rear diff. I sold that Taco a couple years ago after having an incredible time with it.

I recently picked up a stock '97 4Runner SR5. I am going minimalist this time. Can anyone give me any feedback about how well a PowerTrax no-slip has worked out for them in their 4Runner? I load the rear storage area up pretty well, but that was never a problem with the Taco.

Second, is anyone running either BFG AT's or Toyo M/T tires sized 235/85R16 on stock suspension in their 3rd gen 4Runners? Any rubbing issues or other problems?

I've emailed Steve at SS and will be going with one of his 1.2a kits in a couple months, but want to know if I'll have any issues with tall tires before hand.

Welcome. I can't really speak for the rear diff question. The tires shouldn't be an issue. You might have some minor rubbing, but I doubt it since you're looking at a tire that is on the more narrow side.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I like taller, thinner tires as I don't do a lot of sand.

I'll get some pics up soon. Have to show off the RTT on the 4Rnr and the Australian Chuckwagon that I'm refurbishing.

Wow, thought I'd get a bit more feedback than one reply! Guess not too many people have gone the tall, skinny tire route. :violin:
