A Few Misc Questions

Hello All,

new Toyota 4-runner owner..

2001 Model:

1) I replaced the factory radio and now the factory clock does not work. Is it powered by the radio or factory amp that I removed?

2) the vehicle had several bulb out in the center dash / console (above the radio). I've replaced them all. is anything supposed to be illuminated in the overhead console where the map lights and sunroof switch is located? what about the doors, especially the driver's door with all the switches? right not there is no night illumination in the overhead and one switch on the doors.

I'm trying to "rehab" this thing..

I hate the horn honk when locking / unlocking the doors; that's next on my list after interior.

Thanks,

Tim

Ok, for #3 you should be able to put your truck in valet mode which turns off the honk (quick google search will show you exactly since I don't know where you are and that = what type of alarm you have.)

#2 the over head console is NOT lit but the "AUTO" button to make the drivers window go down SHOULD be lit up.

#1 since you replaced the radio did you plug back in the clock? (I know your no idiot but jus checking) since that's checked. Take apart your radio bezel again(just 2screws) and look for a wire that's touching others and grounding out or in plugged. (I'm not sure but there might also be a fuse for it(anything else not work?)

Good luck

Look on thé firewall passenger side in thé engine bay. Should be a can with Denso marked on it. Unplug it, horn won't honk when you lock or unlock the doors

You plugged the clock wires into the wrong spot or not at all. Pull it apart and you'll see what I'm talking about. The only thing that lights up on the driver's door is the driver's window switch...and barely at that. Nothing on the overhead console lights up.

:bash: you beat me -.-

Just like some have said, there is a dummy plug that is identical to the clock plug. Its right underneath the working clock plug. I did the same thing after I installed my radio.

None of the sunroof area is illuminated.
The "AUTO" on both front door switches should be illuminated, but when you push the window lock button to lock the windows the pass switch goes dark, that's so the passenger knows that it's locked and can't use the window.

Snap! people around here are great!

Thanks for the helpful and very fast replies everyone!

Thanks again!

Tim

Im pretty sure the "both side illuminated" is only for you lucky guys with a 99 and up (the ones where both pass and driver have auto window down)

Correct?

I think we are talking about two different switches. I am referring to the passenger switch on the driver's door and think you are referring to the passenger switch on the passenger door. Is that correct?

I should have been a little more clear on my original post.
On my 01, just the drivers door drivers switch and the pass door switch are illuminated.
It's been a long week for me and TGIF!!
