A few Q's for those that have tried Bluetooth in the new nav system

I've never used an integrated Bluetooth system and I was hoping someone could answer a few questions about it.

When you turn the ignition on, does the system automatically recognize your phone (if it is in your pocket for example)? Or is there anything I need to do every time it powers on?

When a call comes in, I assume the radio mutes and the sound from the phone comes out the speakers? Do you have to push a button on the display to answer the call, and does the nav system continue to work?

Does it do "voice dialing"? If it does, do you need to push a button on the display and say "call John Smith" for example? Or is it constantly listening for your commands?

I guess the whole point of this is that I'm wondering if I should go with the stock nav system on the '06 which includes bluetooth support, or if I should go with an aftermarket system like the Eclipse AVN5435, (which doesn't include bluetooth but has some other advantages), then add a hardwired bluetooth system like the Motorola one.

I have the motorola bluetooth with the Nav.

Works great. When you start the truck it automatically recognizes the phone.

The moto bt unit has voice commands and so does my phone they both work great. If you want to make a call you touch the button on the unit and say 'NAME DIAL' she asks who do you want to call you say 'HOME'

I had my unit installed at verizon because it was free. They did not hook up the mute wire and I did not like it. I did the research and hooked it up. Now when a call comes in the radio mutes, you touch the button, or you can set it to auto-answer if you like. When the party hangs up the radio resumes volume.

The unit has an external speaker like most hands-free units. I hid mine in the dash and it works with plenty of volume. I am not aware of anyone who has gotten the stereo speakers to work with any hand-free application.

But honestly with the mute function operational you do not need it. Would be cool though.....

Here is my thread showing a pic of my parrot bluetooth car it and where the control LCD is mounted. It also has a video showing how the radio mutes when an incoming call goes through and returns to playing once that the call is over.

It is installed using the mute wire in the F harness and the audio plays through the center channel speaker in the middle of the dash. Great sound. Almost as good as factory installed units.

Hope it helps to show you what kind of install you could do if you went with the 05, or 06 without the nav already installed.
