My bigger problem is...why do these buttholes not run for office or make a petition or chain themselves to the flag pole at City Hall?? !)

You don't need a warrant for ANY stop.
At least the guy in the car should begin to wear goggles when the Border Tools do another smash and grab.
I agree with you in concept. The description of the video shows the dog did not alert but was used as a tool to fake an alert to search the car. In addition when the officer points out the video camera and audibly says "it's on" the camera is pushed aside. In this instance they clearly violated his rights. That said I completely agree with you that it's a minor thing to inform the officer that you have not been drinking. To assert your rights at a time when these people are trying to enforce safety and keep people alive is childish IMHO. Drunks kill people on the road. In this instance the cops were violating the law. To use it as a hammer against reasonable questions is not being such a good citizen IMHO. We live in the same world. Let's play fair on both sides.
How about this guy. I never intended for this thread to be a collection and I really don't go searching for these videos.
It was a sarcastic comment zstampe. (btw always nice to see you on the forum!)
I've had officers pull me out of my truck for lesser suspicion than not rolling the window all the way down to find nothing wrong, out of place, or even remotely close to law breaking. I was basicly stating in my sarcasm just because someone is a police officer doesn't make them perfect. No one is, every one makes judgement calls that are off from time to time.
So we find a "bad" cop example - usually with some media-painted drama attached to it - and point fingers.
Let me help you out:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
" Are we clear soldier? Are we CLEAR!?".
"Crystal"....
name that movie for 10 4Runner Points.

I get the 4th amendment argument. What I'm saying is that the laws governing traffic stops and checkpoints are a little different hence why the checkpoint issues has been brought before the supreme court.
I'm not here to start a pissing match with you as I've enjoyed your posts (the drowned 4runner story comes to mind) and contributions to this forum. I'm just saying its easy to armchair quarterback things when you aren't a LEO and know some of the things we deal with daily.
Yes there are bad cops out there, but there are also bad doctors, fireman, teachers, clergy etc etc.
This video is from UC Davis in 2010. YES the school and the police department were sued and YES they settled with the students for a lot of money.
Giving away a little bit of control/freedom in the public interest is being a good citizen imo.
Define "little bit." That's a large part of the problem as I see it. A lot of what we do in this country for the most part is based on some precedent or another. If you give "just a little" here, you'll be expected to give "just a little" over there too. Before long, you've nickel and dime-d all your freedoms and rights away. All we need is "just a little" more and we can save one more child or one more driver or one more fill in the blank.
When and where does it stop? Nowhere if we continue to give "just a little" more.
