A letter to my wife. What is your strategy for spending money on your 4runner?

We are all 4runner addicts. Money is in precious short supply for most of us. A rear CBI bumper has been on my list for quite a while but my allowance is ,well, gone. Here is a letter I wrote to my wife asking for additional funds to buy more goodness for my 4runner.

Dear, love of my life.

I would like to get a matching rear bumper for the 4runner. (shrockworks front on the way) This will make it complete. It is $2000 which is a lot of money. The brass (I sell primed, ready to load .223 casings) is selling great and we could roll it into my Christmas gift. Hell, I would commit to a cruise (which I despise) if you want. I am 90% sure you are going to tell me no and I am OK with that. If you told me you wanted to spend $2000 on kid clothes ( our daughters clothes is her only hobby) I would tell you to f**k off. I am a money pit but worth it I think.

The love of your life, Sammy

So what is your strategy?

I would modify it a bit...

Dear, the love of my wonderful life,

I just wanted to take a minute of our hectic lives to tell you how much I love and appreciate how much you make this family wonderful! I really admire how much you enjoy dressing our daughter in those cute clothes all while you strive to clean up after me ;) I know how much you really want to go on that cruise to <destination here> and I hope to one day be able to give you that. So I think we should possibly start saving money for that great adventure once we get a few other things taken care of. I believe you would agree to allow me to get that the a matching rear bumper for the 4runner, since I would not want you to be seen in a half finished 'beater' 4Runner. Once I get both the bumpers on, I will be squirming in my pants to be able to take you out on 'Dates' again and I will have several surprises in store for you :) I know that the 2K seems alot right now, but in perspective, it's really not much. The brass I sell is selling great and you could consider this part of my Christmas gift. I'll feel like a little boy again that cant wait to see what Mrs Santa (wink wink) left on the back of the 4Runner. You can even put a giant bow on it and maybe I can leave rose petals all over the bed :) :) I love you so much honey and cant wait for you bless the plan I have.

The love of your life, Sammy

----ahhh...that should do better ;):welcome:

LMAO!!!

Good luck Sammy..lol Sounds like you need it :D And yes go with GHs letter lol

ghs215,

I wish I would have seen this before I sent her the email. So far no reaction to my plea. None. But she did not say no. Does that mean I should just go ahead and order? Then I might be sleeping on the couch. :whipping2

Dear Love of My life

Dearest CarCrazySammy,

Funny that you think kid clothes are my only hobby....
You have been quite a hobby for over 23 years and my most expensive!
If this is really important to you I will say yes but with my normal animal vs car stipulation. You owe me a dog. Heck with a cruise... I need more animals.

Deal?

Maybe it is just me, but if you have a family and money is tight, spending it on junk isn't the best use of funds. Do you really need a bumper or a $2k wardrobe?

Dear Honey,

I just wanted you to know that I just ordered that rear bumper you told me I couldn't get. I'll be on the couch.

Love Sammy

Dear sweetie,
You know how much I love you. You know your the only thing I love more than my vehicle which is why I put you above all else 90% of the time. But baby right now the 10% is calling my name and I can't leave her hanging. Its not just for me, its so were all safer when we travel, When shit hits the fan and we need to be out of this place, OUR truck will get us anywhere.
Don't look at this as a money pit, or a waste. It's an investment in our future and safety. When is the last time you heard of anyone with steel bumpers dying in a car accident? You don't! Because it never happens.
Honey, I trust you for everything else, so trust in me when I tell you this is something that's been neglected and needs to be done. You only do it once and it's done, so lets get it over with and worry about next years school clothes after that.
Your amazing lover.

Carcrazysammy.... no deal?

Thought you wanted to deal?

I am starting to wonder about that 'tree' the you 'broke' the front bumper on... hum... maybe a dog and a cat?

I expect a ice cold Rampant Imperial IPA when I get home from work Mr. Love of my life....

The love of my life never hassles me on what I spend money on. As long as bills are paid, the extra money is there to be used for what ever we want. I don't see why you need to ask what you are allowed to buy, that is unless you have gotten your family in financial trouble before due to poor money management.

Step 1. See if I have enough money in my account.

Step 2. Consult no one.

Step 3. Buy whatever it is that I want.

Feeling bad for people who have it more complicated than that.. It really shouldn't be..
