Well, while my truck is currently sitting in the parking lot of DAS auto shippers (it was supposed to get here today it hasn't left yet) in Louisiana and I'm very "patiently" waiting for it to get here, I figured I might as well post a review of what I've experienced for any prospective buyers (mainly those too lazy to use the search feature but will still see this on the front/second/third page). The truck ('13 SR5 loaded) , as it sits, has roughly 13.4k miles, and I think about 10-11k of them are mine (family members use it too). I got it just about 4 months ago, for my 16th birthday in August. I've taken this truck everywhere, and I proudly say it has never been washed or vacuumed (YUCK!). It's been the primary vehicle for most of our road trips recently, going to Carolina Beach (100 miles) basically every other weekend. It has also seen New York, Florida, and of course Louisiana, as well as my High School parking lot.
Mods: It has Katzkin replacement leather since my dog was playing with the front two seats >.<. In the picture below it had no visible mods, unless 5% tints count, of course. It was with Skyjacker the past couple weeks getting LOTS of mods done and being BUILT, but I'm not releasing specifics yet until it's home and I can get you all pictures, the people in the 757 Facebook group, DON'T SPOIL IT!!!!
Now to what you've been waiting for or what you wanted to read if you just skipped down, the Review:
Features:
My 4Runner came loaded with everything from the factory, and I was IMPRESSED! With most of our other vehicles we've owned being Mercedes/Chevy with the occasional BMW, we were very impressed. The features that this vehicle comes with both standard and optional stop the Silverados and Suburbans we've had in their tracks for sure. Of course you can't compete with MB or BMW, but if you were to say get the SUV of equal value (X1/X3 or GLK), you would get nothing close/quality for the amount of money you would spend, if it's even possible to get one of these in the price range of a T4R.
Interior: Interior is awesome, lots of features, the controls and basically everything is tastefully done (trim, etc), I love it! I just wish the 3rd Row Seats weren't as crappy and uncomfortable, and it just REALLY needs more cargo space. When you put the 3rd Rows up, there is literally one foot by 4 feet of room in the trunk. I can put plastic bags, and that's about it.
Exterior: Truck looks beautiful! Designed very tastefully, looks better than pretty much everything in its class. Only thing I would've redone is those frog-eye headlights, which they redid for 2014. Other than that, I don't know if there is anything about the exterior to critique. 9/10.
Safety: Thank god, and god forbid, I have not gotten into an accident in this vehicle. However, it feels very safe when I'm riding in it, the ride is smooth, it just feels like I'm driving in a large, safe, vehicle, which is what it is. It definitely feels safe, and since it's Toyota I'd assume that it's safe!
Gas Mileage: I drive a LOT of dirt roads, and I'm of course, a teen driver, so of course the Gas Mileage hasn't been the best. But if you are an adult driver, driving pavement, the Gas Mileage actually isn't too bad. I get in the 10-17 range city/highway, you could probably easily hit the estimations of 15/21 or 17/21, I'm not 100% sure what they are. Of course given it's a V6, you'd expect more efficiency, but given what I'll explain in the next section, it's actually pretty good!! I give it a 6/10, or an 8.5/10 for full sized trucks and SUVs.
Performance: WOW! Toyota isn't really known for the power of their V6's are they? Well, they definitely should be. This 4.0L V6 PACKS A PUNCH! It gets like 270 HP bone stock, thing is AWESOME. The acceleration is very good given its weight, it pulls pretty good as well. Performance, I'll give it a 7/10. Unless you're towing like 10k pounds often, the T4R has more power than what you'll probably ever need.
Off-road Capability: Unless you count dirt roads, hunting trips, the beach, and work on our farm as off-road, I don't have much to say about this. It has come through whenever I needed it, so I'll give it a 10/10 for when I've used it. I've seen awesome pictures of what other members have done with their trucks, so it's surely capable.
Overall: It's awesome, I rate it 8/10, would definitely urge everyone considering one to go buy it! Love this truck, and hope to have it for a LONG time!!
