Ordered that National Luna Dual Battery Kit this morning which then fueled the thought that I should upgrade my primary battery.

Have an upcoming camping trip (don't think Ill be able to install the dual's in time for) and will be living out of the rig and so I want to be able to run the truck for awhile without worry of it dying.

Either way upgraded to the Odyssey 34R-PC1500T.

I got that same battery a few months back. Very happy with it. I also throw this on it overnight every couple of weeks to keep it in top shape

If the truck is just going to sit why don't you just hook up a battery tender when you park it instead of charging every couple of weeks? That's what I do with my classic car during the winter. I've always been of the opinion that keeping it topped up is better than periodic charging.

The Ctek is a "smart" charger that will charge, then maintain just like a battery tender. However, this charger is one that is listed on Odyssey's website as an approved charger. Odyssey batteries need specific chargers that float at a higher voltage than most chargers. All this info is listed on Odyssey's website.

So why don't you just put in on when you park the vehicle rather than going out and doing it every couple of weeks? The description for that product says that it can be used a a maintainer.

Because I drive it frequently and I use the charger on another vehicle as well. Didn't mean to stir everyone up. Feel free to do as you wish.

Oh all my vehicles have self-contained on-board charging systems so when I drive them frequently those systems keep the battery fully charged. I thought these charging systems were stock on all gas-powered Toyotas. I've never had to add one anyhow.

Sounds suspiciously like you are being a smart ass, but that's cool.

This thread mainly refers to the group 31 batteries, but starting on page 2 it talks about the group 34. Basically, our on board charging system can't keep up with the Odyssey batteries. These batteries last longer if they are at full charge. So, if they are not able to get up to a full charge from our on board charging system, they will die sooner. Hence the reason I purchased the above listed Ctek smart charger (on Odyssey's approved charger list) and I hook it up every couple weeks. This gives me piece of mind my battery is getting its full charge if my on board system can't do it. IMHO, this is cheap insurance and makes me feel all gooey inside. If you don't agree, carry on.

Installed the Diamond K400 mount and 2' Firestik

Love it! Got it 90% wired but just need to figure out where I want it to come out from.
I have the Cobra 75wxst so I want to be able to plug it in and remove it when not needed. I have a couple ideas but we will see

Took delivery of my portable unit!

Will eventually switch to a mountable system but this will be great for our needs now.

I think portable is the way to go if you don't need a compressor for locker activation. I have an ARB portable and love it. You can throw it in any vehicle you are driving as well.

That was my thinking and love the versatility of this. Looking forward to using it on our trip this week

Nope. No lift yet. I'm getting zero rub right now but I did have to do some modifications.

What I did was:
1) Fender Mod with a small trim of bumper
2) Heat Gun to the fender and mold it back
3) Body Mount Grind (NOT chop - Just took a grinder to the body mount and took +/- 1/8" down).

I've got the same CB and mount! I ran the coax to the area under the trans shifter and wired the power from the seat heater - only on with the ignition. Pulling that plastic cover off is pretty easy.

As for connecting the mic, I have the cord coming out from under the center console plastic on the passenger side. I have to pull the plastic off to connect and disconnect the mic, but like I said, that part is pretty easy to remove when I need to.

Swapped out my DDM 40W Saber LED DRLs for the XenonDepot 9005 Xtreme LED Pro DRLs and love them!

After a few months of running the DDM I was content with the output even though it was a little much. One day I pulled up to the garage and noticed one wasn't aligned correctly and upon inspection found the screw had become stripped from the grommet. I have dealt with DDM issues far too long to deal with this again so I decided to check out the XenonDepot kit and really wish I went with this the first time. The color is awesome and there is almost no flicker - much less than DDM and only visible by trying to look for it.
