AAE or Cardone Select New steering rack?

Hello,

Im looking for a brand new steering rack, i need it pronto and i unfortunaly cannot afford OEM, im in Canada and OEM rack at discount is 800$ while Cardone select is 500$(Comes with Inner Tie Rods) and AAE is about 430$ with moog Inner. I got a huge 3-4 inch play in my already leaking Steering rack and i decided to stop using my 4runner since its my Daily Driver and i dont want to risk it having the wheel shear off. To rebuild my steering rack cost me about the same as a brand new one. So im just gonna buy a new one and rebuilt mine at a later date and keep it as spare. I know AAE seems very favorite here since it seemed they are the same as Safari LTD one. AAE comes with 2 Year warranty while the Cardone Select has lifetime warranty. Idk anything about Cardone Steering racks. Any help or maybe advice on choose one or the other? Would be greatly appreaciated Thank You. (and yes ive read other thread but found only AAE or Cardone Reman advice.)

Bump. I'm looking at these as well. I'm leaning towards the Cardone Select because of the Limited Lifetime warranty. It seems like if it fails for any reason, they'll replace it. A good deal cheaper than the OEM rack as well.

Didn't Safari go out of business.

And I recall there was a lot of talk that the Safari was just a Rock Auto relabeled.

Moog ... personally I'm not a fan.

I don't have an answer for you. If I have to buy another one it will be an OEM.

I have had good luck with rack doctors with BMW's fair price and lifetime warranty.

i've heard horror stories about cardone, not sure about the other.

have you tried detroit axle? they have warranty and i've heard decent things

also not sure of the logistics of this, but i am happy to try and get something stateside and ship it to you / meet you. shoot me a PM

I installed an AAE last year and it has been great! It looks and feels well made. The install is miserable. Don't forget to get new rack bushings when you do it. You may also want to consider grabbing new front sway bar bushings while you have it all apart. Im assuming you have rust too, so I would recommend replacing any cheap parts possible while you have everything disassembled!

I broke a passenger side weld nut while reassembling and had no choice but to cut a hole in the crossmember, reweld the nut, and reweld the crossmember.

Ordered the AAE from Rock Auto last weekend. Should be here Friday so hopefully get it installed this weekend. No bad comments on it from what I have researched.

So far its been now 3 weeks with AAE Steering rack, i can say there tight! Im running 1.5 inch up front with 2 inch lift in the rear, and they are precise, idk how long they will hold up, but im loving them! They come with inner tie rods so no need to buy others. I kept my OEM steering rack and ill try to find a place to rebuild it so if the AAE fails me ill have something in my garage.

My stock Steering rack was loose on the passenger side and i had a play in the steering. Ill keep updating with my experience, ive only drove on dry/wet pavement, no offroading yet.
