Hello everyone! I currently own a 2013 jeep wrangler unlimited and I'm considering trading it in for a 4runner. I only do light offroading and I'm looking for more of an expedition vehicle and I think the 4runner will be better for this.
I'll probably be going with a 2010+, but I might do an 08 or 09.
so now my questions.
1. How reliable are these vehicles and how many miles can I get out of this?
2. Are these good for daily driving?
3. Are these good offroad?
4. I know that jeeps have so many aftermarket parts that it's hard to make any two look alike. how do 4runners do with aftermarket items?
5. Is there anything you think I should know before I make the trade?

I know I am a new guy here, but I just purchased a 2013 TE and the Jeep JK was one of the other vehicles I was considering before I bought the 4Runner. First, here are my answers to your questions:
1. I have been researching my new vehicle purchase since May 2013 and based on the information I found, the 5th generation 4R had far less problems reported than the JK.
2. Personally, I found the 4R to be much more comfortable as a daily driver than the JK.
3. I think this answer depends on how hardcore an off-roader you are. My driving consists mainly of pavement driving with about 20-25% off-road, which consists of beaches and trail driving. I am far from hardcore so even the 4R's capabilities exceed what I need for an off-road vehicle, so I settled for what I feel is the best of both on-road and off-road worlds.
4. Jeep Wranglers have HUGE aftermarket support. 4R's aftermarket parts are not as extensive, but there are still plenty of choices available to personalize your vehicle.
5. You can search this forum for any question or concern you have about the 4R and find an answer. However, one thing you need to know is that you are going to have to figure out how to handle all the women that are going to approach you after you purchase the 4R.
The primary reasons I chose the 4R over the JK are as follows:
1. Proven reliability.
2. More comfortable on-road ride.
3. More comfortable rear seating area (adjustable rear seat and more leg room).
4. More secure. I love that you can remove the top from a Jeep, but around my area (Philadelphia/Southern New Jersey) you cannot leave an open/soft-topped Jeep alone for more than an hour before some knucklehead will decide to break into it - totally sucks.
5. The 4R has a higher tow rating than the JK.
6. Just as capable off-road as a non-rubicon JK for the action I see off-road.
7. The first time I test drove the 4R I could see and feel that it was a quality vehicle.
