About to pull the trigger on my lift kit... final thoughts?

I can only speak for myself. In 2007 I bought the SS 1.2 kit, same parts as mentioned above for like $1,400 from Steve at Sonoran Steel.

I liked his website and several other guys were running this setup. Back then there weren't as many commercial options, way less in fact. Of all of the options it seemed at the time the most specific for our exact year of 4Runner. Steve had specially tested it for the 3rd Gen and when I spoke with him he was clearly an expert on 3rd Gen 4Runner suspensions. I also liked the fact that it was all Toyota parts. I liked that a lot. I happen to think Toyota is very good quality. At the time most of the other kits used Old Man Emu (OME) springs. The SS 1.2 was actually the priciest of kits I came across.

Now again, that was in 2007. A lot has changed and there are a lot more kits for sale now.

I can fully understand your reasons on your decision. I too have a serious love and trust for OEM Toyota parts. Not having all the options is what makes you guys the OG's! I have often thought about going this route.

It's a great idea to add them if it's in the budget. They will help you achieve factory alignment specs after a 3" lift. They will also help the vehicle track in a straight line rather than wander on the road.

Your 4Runner will work with factory UCAs and a ToyTec BOSS lift. Keep in mind they are 16+ years old.
CV axles boots are prone to breaking and spitting grease in the wheel well - I have never heard of or seen a CV axle break due to a 3" lift.
We also carry a 1" diff drop to help keep CV axles more flat.

I have great respect for a company that takes the time to post on forums. That says a lot! I have a strong feeling I will do UCAs at the same time as my lift, I'm just really concerned I'm going to have a hard time finding someone that will have a clue of what to do with them on an alignment.

Completely torn on what to do now... everyone speaks highly of both the BOSS Toytec Kit and the 1.2 SS or Tundra/LC lift. Just sounds like preference at this point. I'm really intimidated at trying to piece everything together and wait a long time for the 1.2 SS order to get fulfilled.

For your situation I would personally just go with the Toytec kit. One and done, no need to stress.

That's what I'm thinking at this point. In a perfect world I'd probably try to piece everything out (not even sure what the advantage to doing that is). I'm going to add the SPC UCA's as well for piece of mind.

I'm with you on the UCA's. I wasn't going to do them at first but I think while you're in there its just smart to go ahead and do it and get one alignment (hopefully) done and you'll be in good shape. I definitely don't want to deal with any wandering on the road or odd handling characteristics.

Did you end up buying the TTHA-9602? If so, how was the install?

Which UCAs did you get and how much were they?
