about to purchase--help?

I'm about to pull the trigger on an 07 SR5 4WD V8. (Maroon/Tan)
3 questions?

1. I wanted to test the 4LO, but I don't know how? It beeped and blinked when I tried it, in Park. I have no idea how to properly engage it, and there is no owner's manual present. How do I do it?

2. I tried the center diff lock button as well, while in park. No lights, no nothing. I found a thread or two on here that seems to indicate you must be rolling, so is that the case? No light on the dash or anything though?

3. There is a capped hose in the engine bay. Is this truck funky, or is that a Toyota cap for a feature the SR5 doesn't have? driver's side fenderwell area, across from 2nd spark plug on that side. I just sold a Tundra with the same(ish) motor, don't remember that....see pic:

Damn Nice truck, if it's good to go....just afraid something is fishy here....

1. For 4LO you must be in neutral, stopped, with your foot on the brake before it will engage.

2. I think the center diff lock should flash while it tries to engage, but Im not 100% sure it will come on in park though. Someone else can chime in.

3. Yes that is normal. It is the cap for the differential breather line.

Good luck!

Center diff for me wont work unless in drive, moving or not. Preferably moving a little. The hose is fine, i have one but it definitely looks funky. Thought the same thing.

ok, 2 out of 3 issues solved there (kinda!)..thanks!
no dash lights for c-diff? only when rolling?

Whew--I really dig the truck, might be taking it home tomorrow...

there are instructions on the visor on how to properly engage 4lo.

the way i do it is i put in in neutral, put in 4 hi, let it engage, then to 4lo,
let in engage, then push the center diff lock and let it engage.

you want to be on dirt or gravel. good luck.

i also have an 07 4x4 v6.. love it.

Congrats on the purchase, I had my 4runner for a year before I knew how to engage 4-lo..: I thought the beeping meant it was turned on :roadkill:
