Abrasion on body where spoiler joins?

I'll preface this with 'I normally get my car washed at a car wash' which I know I shouldn't do unless in dire circumstances. Shame on me.

Having said the above, I washed my car this morning and took my time detailing it/taking a good look around. I've had it for about 8 months... Well, I noticed where the roof/hatch spoiler joins the body the paint looks like its rubbed off. There is no way to physically scratch this location (it is on both sides, at the bottom/under the edge of the spoiler, bracketing the rear window) as it is covered by the factory-installed (right?) spoiler. And yet, at the bottom of the spoiler it looks like somebody gouged the paint on the body when it was installed. The 'scratch' is about an inch wide and 1/8 to 1/4 inch high - looks like rubbing. The lower edge of the spoiler doesn't feel very sharp so I'm still at a loss to explain how it happened. I think its been there for quite a while.

What should I do? Touch it up? Blame it on the dealer? The automatic car washes? Does this affect anyone else's 4R?

Yes, I will wash my own truck from now on...

Yes, I will wash my own truck from now on...

This may fall in wear and tear category and if it is then the factory warranty is not covered. but if you can proof it was there when you got your Truck from the dealer that you might have a chance to get it repaint for free at the dealer cost, not manufacture warranty.

I have noticed lately that whenever I close the rear hatch it sounds like the spoiler hits the hatch door. I played with it momentarily to make sure I hadn't broke something after I heard it and it definitely sits off the hatch normally and I could see how vibration or sudden movement would make it contact. I didn't stop to look if mine was causing any abrasion markings, but maybe I should.

Not the highest quality, but what you're seeing at the edge/under the spoiler/body transition is an oval rub where the paint is rubbed completely off.

This may fall in wear and tear category and if it is then the factory warranty is not covered. but if you can proof it was there when you got your Truck from the dealer that you might have a chance to get it repaint for free at the dealer cost, not manufacture warranty.

This part is put on by the factory, not the dealer or distrubters. Yes, if it was not tightened correctly at the factory during install, a car wash can make it move and rub hence the wear and tear. But normal driving and going over bumps etc. would do the same thing. 99% sure it will be covered under warrenty. No need to mention car wash to dealer. Just have them fix it.
