ABS light blinking after O2 probe replacement

I had a CEL light with code P0031 along with VSC TRAC and VSC OFF lights. I replaced the O2 sensor on bank 1 upstream but had a little problem with the wiring connector, I'm pretty sure it made a good connection.
I then reset the ODB code and started the engine. the CEL light is now clear but I have both VSC lights along with ABS blinking. I did notice while disconnection the ODB reader I had to wiggle it some and the display blinked like it was making/breaking contact which might have caused an electrical surge? I did a test drive with no breaking problems and the ABS light is intermittent but keeps coming back. I have no CEL or ODB codes displayed.
Anybody have an idea what I did wrong?

That's weird because one has nothing to do with the other. Maybe BlackWorksInc (Toyota tech) can help out with this. BTW, he is probably really sick of me "pimping" him out in these threads. Sorry, BWI! Anyway, where along the TX Gulf Coast are you?

Were in Chambers county, exactly half way between Houston and Beaumont. I'll look into Blackworksinc, thanks

Oh, so you live somewhere around Anahuac or Winnie? I live just south of Houston so you're not that far. As for BWI, he'll get an email telling him that he was mentioned in this thread which he will probably investigate... Unless of course, I have annoyed him. I hope not as his advice/help is priceless.

Which Display were you talking about?

Chances are you either had the Ignition On/Engine Off too long and/or when you cleared the DTC with your Code Reader you erased the ZPC (Zero Point Calibration) data. Its common on the '03 & '04 models to lose/corrupt the ZPC data when the voltage drops too low and/or occasionally when clearing DTCs with scantools (I've had it happen a couple times on my own '04 SE.) I would perform a ZPC relearn and see if that fixes the issue.

You may not see the DTC for the ZPC on your Code Reader as its stored in the ABS/VSC/TRAC module and most aftermarket code readers cannot read ABS, SRS, and/or other typically "Factory Specific" modules.

Priceless huh? So that's why I don't get paid for helping you guys out. :fish:

I disconnected the battery for about an hour, than reconnected and started the engine, no ABS or ASC lights on! Yea. about an hour later I went to work, started engine, still no lights, then started down the road and got the VSC lights only, no ABS. I think that means I have to do the ZPC calibraton. I've read a little about it, sounds like a real bummer.
sound like a plan?

Yeah, its nothing to complicated. There's a couple write-ups and videos on Youtube on how to set the ZPC on the 4th gens.

I would do that and see if it fixes the issue, more than likely it will.

What's the matter? You never heard of "PAY IT FORWARD"? Seriously though, I think it's great that you are willing to help T4R.org members out. The minute this becomes a forum for Scripture/End Times issues, I'm your guy!

Get some safety wire or even a paper clip and do a ZPC it is so simple timing is the key to it.

1. Ensure the shift lever is in
“P” range.
2. Turn the ignition switch ON.
3. Using SST 09843–18040, repeat a
cycle of short and open between
terminals Ts and CG of DLC3 4 times
or more within 8 seconds. Verify that
the VSC indicator light is lit indicating
the recorded zero point is erased.
4. Turn the ignition switch OFF.
5. Be sure the terminals Ts and CG of
DLC3 are disconnected.
6. Turn the ignition switch ON.
7. Check that the VSC warning light
goes off about 15 seconds after the
ignition switch is turned ON.
8. After ensuring that the VSC warning
light remains OFF for 2 seconds, turn
the ignition switch OFF.
9. Connect the terminal Ts and CG of
DLC3 using SST 09843–18040.
10. Turn the ignition switch ON.
11. After turning the ignition switch ON,
check that the VSC warning light
is lit for about 4 seconds and then
starts quick blinking at
0.13 second intervals.
12. After ensuring the blinking of the VSC warning light for 2 seconds, turn the ignition
switch OFF.
13. Remove the SST from terminals Ts and CG of DLC3.
Drive the vehicle to confirm there are no re–occurring lights or DTCs.

Ts is the 3rd pin on the top from the left.
CG is the 4th one over on the bottom from the right.
Also last time I did I had to to leave the wire in on step after shorting it 5 times in 8 seconds then off and remove the wire but do it like it says first and let us know how things go.
