ABS Light/Speed Sensor and can't get out of park

Greetings forum,

Picked up a 98 Limited with 191k miles about a month ago. Two weeks ago, I transferred my amp, sub, and T1819 radio from my 4th gen to my new 3rd gen.

I received an ABS light, checked engine (reads P0500 vehicle speed sensor), and I can't shift out of park without using the override.

I've checked all fuses in the engine bay and next to the steering wheel. My top (third) brake light doesn't work, the rear side brake lights still work.

I've tested the vehicle speed sensors and they're still solid.

Still conducting research, but running out of scenarios. Any recommendations? Thanks gents

Did you check the wiring leading to the sensors? I know on past vehicles this has occurred as the wires have either chafed or the prongs inside the connector corroded.

Odd... Speed sensor might come on with the ABS computer, which explains the ABS light. The shift lock solenoid links to the brake switch, which goes to the tail light fuse. I'm puzzled why some of your brake lights work and some dont (unless its just a bulb).

Sounds like a wire short, damaged harness, or something along those lines. Where did you run all of your sub wires? I would check those areas. ABS computer is in passenger footwell.

Prongs inside looked fine.

I'm going to disassemble everything and re check wiring. I grounded my amp to one of the parking brake bolts. Hoping I didn't fry the ABS computer.

I checked the 3rd brake light bulb too and it was fine. I'll replace it just for good measure. Thanks.
