ABS/VSC/TRAC Disable Master Thread

I followed this link. from the first post on here. It said that ABS stayed active so I figured the abs and brake light would not have come on, only the VSC and TRAC. Since I had those turn on as well as the brake and ABS, I figured it might have gone wrong

Are the ABS and brake lights on all the time or just when VSC and TRAC are disabled (when those lights are on)? The mod should only disable VSC and TRAC. My 4Runner is an 02 and it worked for me, so it should work for an 01.

They are only on when the VSC and TRAC is disabled (switch on). When I flip my switch off they all go out.
There is only one red wire with the black tracer right?

I just did the Bagel Mod. Great instructions Beto! It works just like it says. I can deactivate the VSC when I want on the fly with a flip of the switch and reactivate it when I want without stopping or shuting down.

Here is the main harness I built for the VCS, I also made a 1 relay harness for the ECU as described.

Abs will kill you
Sunday may 31st I was driving on a gravel road outside Tucson. I was driving careful maybe 27-30mph. Experienced a slight rear break out, controlled it. The road went down hill and veered right. I applied the brake to slow down( had already regained control) the moment I did, the abs kicked in and the truck shook like a paint shaker. I the truck didn't slow down, instead this caused the back to break free again, but worse. I down shifted to 2nd and kept on the brake, till I impacted the road bank mostly head on at approximately 22-25mph. The back came up, the road sloped, that and the not direct hit caused the truck to tumble. I rolled nearly end over end for about 20-30yards, before coming to rest on my driver door 180 degrees from original direction of travel. My truck is dead. I am sad. This is bull, it's meant to drive on dirt roads. Check the pictures and switch your abs off. I liked it for pavement, dirt is dangerous . Any ideas on contacting Toyota proper would be helpful y'all. So now I'm alive unhurt and driving a car. Urrrrrr to abs. Note the " chatter mark" from pulsing abs. 15 percent brakin power at most

Removing the entire VSC/TRAC/ABS system?
Hello,
I am new here. I haven't been able to find what I have been looking for. I am wondering if it is possible to remove the entire VSC/TRAC system. I want to never have these functions. I was thinking of possibly swaping my master cylinder with an older model with doesn't have these systems and also swaping over the ECU for it? I don't know of this would work. Please enlighten me.

Cut Red Wire with Black tracer in V18-3 and just don't run a switch.
Run a switch if you want to turn it on/off at your will.

I understand that I can just cut it and leave it like that. But I wanted to change my brake booster/master cylinder to a stronger one to stiffen up my brake pedal due to the 231mm brake upgrade making the brake pedal very squishy.
I've heard of some folks swapping their 95-00 with the T100 brake booster/master cylinder. I wanted to do the same but the 01-02 master cylinder is more complicated. So I wonder if my idea is even possible.
Need some advice. I have the AndyMod 2.0 done on my 01. It was working fine...the VSC was overridden and both dash lights illuminated, which told me that the VSC/Trac were disabled. I went to swap out the bulbs, and now the lights don't stay on and the VSC/TRAC arent disabled anymore. Both the VSC OFF and VSC TRAC bulbs illuminate briefly upon startup of the truck, but don't stay lit. I also spun the tires on gravel yesterday and the orange slip indicator light came on when the tires slipped. The "VSC OFF" light DOES still come on when I use the center diff lock. Not sure if i'm looking at a wiring issue somewhere but don't get what pulling the gauge cluster out would screw with.
Update...checked the wiring everything was connected so I tried this......While the truck was running, I unplugged the connector from the computer, took off my switch and just left the wires dangling. The VSC and TRAC lights and the ABS lights on the dash illuminated. Plugged the connector back in, lights remained on. Then I shut the truck off and restarted it but now none of those lights remain on ...mind you, currently the red wire with the black tracer is just cut and not connected to anything so in theory, the VSC and TRAC SHOULD be disabled. Not sure whats going on here.

Bumping for any help please. Have disconnected the battery hoping that would reset everything but that didn't work

Not to sound like an ass, but did you try pressing the button again?
What you're explaining sounds exactly like how it should work. It you turn of the VSC/TRAC the lights will come on, and they will stay on until you shut the car off. Upon your next start-up the system would have reset, and you'd need to turn the VSC/TRAC off again.
When you pull the switch out you essentially "cut the wire". That's why the lights were one. When you put the switch back in you "connected the wire". That's why the lights went off "once you shut the car off".

So Im thinking that this is where I would ask this question:
When I hit my brakes, sometimes it seems as if they push back agianst me and I hear an electronic humming sound coming from somewhere under the dash or under the hood that I am suspecting is the ABS. It happens sometimes when i just let off the brakes too. The ABS light will come on and off randomly.
Should I just disable my ABS to get rid of this or is it something else?

So if I'm reading that right the "Bagel mod" will disable VSC only, leaving TRAC active? That's exactly what I'd like to do. From what I've read VSC is the one that cuts power, preventing wheel spin. TRAC is generally considered beneficial, in that it gives you something approaching a locked differential. Not as good, but same idea, preventing a slipping wheel on one side of the axle from robbing all the power from the other side.
IMO having two buttons, VSC disable and ABS disable, is ideal. Disable either, or both, at will while leaving TRAC active.
