Acceleration Problem

Don't know if this has been asked yet, but couldn't find it when I tried searching.

This problem happened just yesterday after getting off work. I was at a stop sign waiting for traffic to clear so I can make a right. As soon as the traffic cleared, I stepped on the gas as usual but as soon as I did, the vehicle broke on its own. After it did that, the vehicle became sluggish just for a bit and then started operating normally. So far it hasn't happened today but I'm just worried that it might get worse and I would rather try to see if I can get it fixed before it does get worse.

I'd start with quick checks on air cleaner and fuel system cleansing. If you don't already run some seafoam or startron in your fuel (double strength at first) to help clean & decarbon the intake & upper engine. If this doesn't work after a partial tank then move onto spark plugs/wires. Any engine codes stored or pending (check even if no CEL lite on). Luck.

I agree, most likely is a spark/air/fuel delivery issue. I'd also check to see if any vacuum hoses are loose and finally fell off. I had a car that the PCV hose kept slipping out of the air cleaner hose so I would have to push it back in every once in a while.

Spark plugs and wires are regular maintenance items, I think the plugs are 30k and wires are when they go bad. You can check the wires with a multimeter and visually inspect for cracks or tears. That'll almost completely rule out bad spark.

Fuel is a little more tricky to check unless you happen to have a fuel pressure gauge. If not, then run the cleaners recommended and if you still have the problem, a new fuel filter might be in order (especially if you've had issues with dirty fuel or live in more rural areas).

Lastly you could clean off your MAF wires very carefully, you can search around on how to do it without damaging anything.
