Acura TL Retrofit

Finally got the my reflector cut to hold the Acura TL projector! I haven't finished closing up my headlamps but the projectors are glued and straight! Photos were taken on my phone so not the greatest quality. I really like how the fog lights fill in right below the low beams.

Still need to wire the high beam and cover the projectors with a shroud. Thinking of using an acrylic sheet vacuum formed over the projectors since nothing stock covers it fully, and then paint the acrylic black.

i dont see much color on the cutoff, did you happen to use a clear lens on the projectors? looks like a stock tl with no mods done.

Yes, those were with the stock lens. I switched to the ZKW-R lights when I knew I was about to seal my lights up. That way if I messed up the lens, it wasn't the good one. That lens change makes a world of difference.

I did notice there's a notch on the lenses and a flat part. Are those suppose to be oriented in a specific direction? I orientated the lenses with the flat part at the bottom.

I'll take some updated pictures of the cut off soon.

Here is my cut off with the ZKW-R Lens (see above for stock lens)

I haven't molded shrouds yet to cover everything. We all know it's not finished yet, but it doesn't look that bad without them. Don't flame me, I'll get to them.

If you plan on tackling this project on your own, BEWARE!

The projectors will fit, but it is tight! I ended up trimming the black bezel so the solenoid would fit and could be adjusted with the stock screws. I saw pictures of CookieRoe's from Lightwerkz, and it looks like they trimmed the back part.

I made a jig to help mount the projectors on the reflector for a straight cut off, but ended up not using it because the fit had to be perfect for the headlamp to seal. Instead, I mounted the headlamp assembly back and reflector on the 4Runner and with the headlights turned on, used JB Quick Weld to mount them straight - working fast before everything heats up!

A lot of headaches and frustration, but the output is remarkable!

I had an Acura TL-Type S and the lights were the best I have ever seen in a car. I would get flashed all the time with the low beams on. They didn't like the Highs when I hit those and went back to low. Great work man. I was thinking this would be nice in my third gen but not sure if it would work. You have me wondering now.

use jb weld for a better glue, all u need to do is mount it right, then leave it in the oven to speed cure at 160 degrees or more. its alot faster using the oven to dry up the glue. also use a different shroud, alot of people use apollo, be a game changer and do something unique, trs might still have those nice painted ones.
i forogt to mention, there are doing some solenoid conversion on the tl, it was using the mini h1 parts to replace the original ones, and the size was a bit smaller.

Lightwerkz might have trimmed the back side, but I've since had them redone by Lightmodz (lots better than Lightwerkz). I applaud you for doing this yourself, I don't have the time, work space for this which is why I had them done. Big money though. BUT, worth every penny. I love driving at night with my vehicles (retro-ed), the light is extremely nice and better yet, look stock without blinding anyone. If you can stomach it, get Osram 5000K CBR bulbs. PURE white light.

I'll no doubt have this done YET AGAIN (remember my solenoid was fried again), but I'll I head to the retrofitsource and pick up a pair of TL-R (TL projectors fitted with a more robust solenoid). The TL-R is said to be smaller and you can actually fit the smaller, more popular shrouds on them. With the "regular TLs", you are stuck with Apollos and anything else that is big.
