Add remote on ECU VIP S1000

Hi all,

I have a ECU VIP S1000 on my car. Had no remote when I bough it. So I found an aftermarket one but nothing to do, I can not get into the programming mode on the ECU. I've tried to find some info on the net.
First of all, their's not a lot of info, no manual available and it seems tha a lot of people had the same issue.
I've tried some procedures from Free Keyless Remote Fob Entry programming instructions, procedures for all automotive vehicles but nothing new...

My VIP S1000 has NO green button to enter the "discovering mode".
Remote is a standard Toyota one, with Lock/Unlock/Rear window buttons on the front and emergency button on the back.

Would anyone of you be kind enough to help???

I found on the Internet some steps to program the ECU, but unfortunately, I never managed to enter the programming mode with one of them, so still having a stand-alone remote, not working with the ECU...

Here is what I have found: on some forums people mention that the S1000 is non programmable a.k.a. a passive system. (by toyota ed - I NEED THE PROGRAM PROCEDURE FOR A S1000 SECURITY SYSTEM - Fixya) He explains how this alarm works which you probably know already.

There seems to be two models - one with a green button and the one without it. I have never seen the one with the button.

I did ask a question once there on fixya, but they couldn't answer me.

I have found that my unit, without the green, button is somewhat programmable. But i think it might not work with remotes.

You can read the post by Toyota Ed about what this alarm does. I found that you can enter into the programming mode by cycling the ignition key 5 times from OFF the ON position (the alarm LED turns on, the HORN sounds and i think the lights flashed ones or twice...I'll have to check) and then you can specify how long it should take for the alarm to go off, if the key is not inserted and switched to ON.

I am looking for information regarding all the possible options available to be programmed into this alarm. So far i have found 2 options - 1 that you can program the amount of time (seconds) it takes for the alarm to go off, after any door is opened, and 2 the option to disable the alarm totally so it doesn't turn on or go off at all (as sometime it does get annoying when you forget to switch the key to the ON and the alarm sound the horns and flashes the park lights on the 00 4runner. and it is a very loud sound!!!!!)

These two options can be programmed by making a different combination of opening and closing the driver door and confirming it by cycling the key back out 5 times as I remember.

Important note - when you reprogram the alarm, you can not reset it even after the alarm ECU has been unplugged. You have to re-enter the program menu again and reprogram it.

I think there may be additional options to program. For example lock the doors automatically and who knows what else. I have not opened it to see if it has an antenna inside to determine if it has remote capability. Might try it soon.

If you need step by step programming instructions let me know. I didnt write them now because I have to try them out because I dont remember them! haha

The way it works now is suitable for me, I get used to. Just miss the remote...

Before I list the procedure of the top of my head, i assume you have the alarm installed and it works in the following way: when you turn off the car get out of it, and close all doors (with or without locking it), the red LED (if available) starts blinking not too fast for about 16-18 seconds...after which the car should flash the park lights and dashboard for a about a second, signaling that it has armed. Then the red LED starts to blink slower indicating that the alarm is active. Then when you open any of the 5 doors, the red LED starts to blink fast again and you have 16-18 seconds to insert the key in the ignition and switch it to ON. If you do not, the alarm will sound the horns and flash the dashboard and park lights, for about 45 or 90 seconds as I remember. (It is preferable not to stay in front of the car as both horns together on the 4runners are VERY LOUD! They can and will wake up the dead!

In order to deactivate the alarm, insert the key and cycle it to the ON position two times. Depending when you insert it, you might have to cycle the key 3 times.

After that the it is the same procedure all over again.

I used to have a list that I made for the procedure but I can't find it right now!

From top of my head:

To enter the program menu enter in the car, close the door, insert the key and cycle it to the ON and OFF position 5 times - the horn (maybe once or twice) will sound and the red LED will turn on. Same way to get out of the menu. When you get in or out of the menu the red LED blinks fast a few times. When you enter, you can program the amount of seconds until the alarm goes off when any door is opened. This is done by opening and closing the drivers door. You will have to experiment with the number of opening and closing of the driver's door. You can set the alarm to activate every 5, 15, 30, 45, 60, and may be 75 or 90 max. The next option in order is deactivates the alarm all together. Then it starts all over again.

This is from top of my head so please experiment when you have time and remember that even if you unplug the alarm ECU, it doesn't reset it. SO if you are used to the way it is now leave it as is.

If not a secret what is the car that you have this alarm installed on and does it work the same way?
