Just curious, has it affected your mpg much? I've got the same setup from my previous car but haven't thrown it on the 4Runner yet.

Looks great! I really like that rack and think it would suit my needs. Don't have the funds or need for one of the full on brands but have been pondering the Yakima.
Would you mind if I asked how much it set you back, PM if more comfortable that way. Also It looks like your running 285's? If you get a chance could you measure your rigs total height?
I want both the rack and 285's but unexpectedly will be moving into an apartment with garage only parking which I expect to rain on my parade of plans in some manner.

It fairly quiet right now. Haven't had it loaded yet but will for vacation next month. I don't have a sunroof either so that may make a difference. I'm actually looking at getting the extension for some added room.

I haven't really notice a mileage difference. I get around 16.5 anyway with my setup.

I bought the rack from REI for 299$. I try to purchase there for the dividend return at the end of the year.
I'm actually running stock size 265/70/17 Goodyear duratracs. I just parked in a fairly short parking garage yesterday when we went to dinner and had no issues. I was worried at first and had the wife hop out and watch as I approached but I cleared by about 2 inches.
I purchased my Yakima Loadwarrior for $200 otd shipped to my house through orsracksdirect by using a 20% coupon they had around the holidays. Although it took a couple of emails and checking up on the status of the order the rack showed up after about a month. The rack does make some noise on the highway but with some tunes playing you can't notice it. My mpg did drop about 2 mpg but that's expected. Now I just need to figure out what to put on the rack...

I am planning on a similar setup on the factory rails. Would you happen to know exactly how much height it adds to your rig? My parking garage is 80", the rack says it is 6.5", and my truck is 71.5". Does it truly just add 6.5"? Or, does it ride higher depending on your cross bar setup? I would be mouthing it to the factory cross bars. I guess the better question is, is the 71.5" vehicle height quoted by Toyota take into account the additional height brought on my the factory roof rack system? If so, in theory I should fit. But, if the 71.5" height is to the top of the roof, I am no bueno.

From the top of the silver factory roof rack that runs front to back on the top. The load warrior adds 6.75". I didn't measure total height since my tire and lift combo is probably different than yours.
I have one as well, and use it when going on offroad trips to carry two of the 4 gallon rotopax containers. I don't find that it adds any wind noise, but it does disrupt the airflow from the moonroof. If I open the moonroof and the back window a bit, I get nice airflow from the back to the front and out the moonroof. If I have the rack on, the airflow out the moonroof is blocked. It's not a big deal, but I very much prefer the awesome back to front 4Runner airflow using the rear window and moonroof.

You should be able to pull and slide them out through the side.

If it's the factory attachments from Yakima than they should be movable. Just loosen and move where desired.

I hate to be such an ignoramus, but, to be clear, are you saying that the 71.5" vehicle ride height is from the ground to the tippy-top of the raise silver side rails? Or, the top of the roof? :sorry:

I never measured from the ground. I just know that the load warrior with the factory Yakima attachments will add 6.75" from the silver Toyota rails. I figured you and I have different tire and suspension set ups so an over all measurement of my truck would not help you.
It must be the factory mounts as it came with two locking ones. The mounts are solid plastic and they fit between the lower bars. They are one piece and there is nothing to loosen. I looked at the instructions on line and it makes no mention of how to reposition the mounts.
Ok, I figured out how to move the mounts. I just had to pull and it worked out.
To answer the height issue, with the black TE racks and factory crossbars I top out at 79-80in. I have a Billstiens set at .85.

Now one more question. The factory rack seems a little short. With the extension is there any clearance issues with the shark fin or interference with the rear hatch when it is opened?

Thank you all for the help! I am going to go with the Loadwarrior (I think, ha) and will take my chances with my 80" garage. My truck is fully stock, aside from the stock size Duratracs, so, I should be good. Will post pics when I put her on!
