Typically, you can carefully pull the grill on some models. On 4th gens, it can be installed on the vehicle. I will tell you its easier off the rig though.

I am still cutting on the bumpers out. Starting on the 4th gens today. I will cut several of them, and then we have an 06' coming in a week or two to get test fit. We will make the adjustments on it, and get it ready to go.

Nice:thumb: I was literally just shopping online all last night for winches! Still can't decide :frusty: This may be a dumb question but can you swap out the the steel rope for synthetic on any winch ?

Hey NYC, I spent hours doing winch research and read a lot of good things about Superwinch and most people seem to be very happy with them. I believe most winches can be switched to a synthentic but have read about drum heat as a possible issue with some models so you may want to look into that if you plan to go that route. Another brand that got a lot of good reviews was the Engo lineup so check those out too.

Since my Runner is in the outdoor mountain environment all year and our trails are pretty rocky I decided to stick with a good old reliable steel cable. The M8000 I bought is nothing fancy, but has a long-term proven track record and that is what I wanted more than anything.

It really depends on the drum. I would suggest buying a winch with synthetic line from the factory versus adding the line after.

I am currently running a TJM winch which has been awesome. I ran a Engo winch on my LandRover which was solid, but it was a slower & louder than my TJM, but it was cheaper.

MikeMarker offers a Scout winch with synthetic line for a good price. That superwinch you linked too is also decent, especially for the price!

There is a warn m8000 for sale in the classifieds with synthetic line for real cheap.

I'd buy that right away if I was looking for a winch.

I have my warn vr10000 and switched to synthetic after the 3rd time out wheeling. Really fubar the line since I didn't know wtf I was doing.

That winch should fit fine. The key is the overall width. The winch plate is 22" wide overall. That winch is 20.8", so it will fit the winch plate.
