Addicted Offroad's new 5th gen 4runner bumper!

how bright are the turn signals/DRLs compared to the stock ones?

They are on in this pic

No sure. I would say they are not as bright overall...

The stock ones were regular bulbs and put out a lot of light... These are LEDs and the light is way more focused with less lumens

One big downside with LEDs as blinkers is you have the choice of using DRLs or having a normal blink on the turn signals. The blinker circuit will fast blink unless it sees enough load. To simulate the load of a regular bulb.. you can wire in a resistor in parallel. But the resistor will burn out if it has to run all the time as the DRLs. I can't think of another easy solution.

Tridon EP35 relay from Autozone. Plug n play in 3rd and 4th gens. Should be the same I would think in a 5th gen.

the 5th gen relay is an 8 pin configuration according to the wiring diagram, so this one won't work unfortunately. LED load equalizers are a pretty easy solution though

wfo9 quick question, did you reuse the stock harness for your fogs, or did you end up having to run a new switch/relay etc?
Just used the stock wires.... Plenty of power for the LED fogs/ditch. No issues.

As far as the turn signals go.... The LED load equalizer link you posted above is a resistor. It is what I have. It works fine for the turn signals, but gets extremely hot when running as DRL. I'm positive it will burn out quickly if run as DRL for extended times.

the stock DRL bulbs are rated at 27 watts, and draw about 2.3 amps. resistors burn out because they are not capable of dissipating enough heat. at 50 watts, this one should be up to the task, I have a set on the way too, so I guess we'll see

If anyone is interested in the original 2014+ prototype bumper, we have it for sale for $800. It will include the LED Fogs lights, mounting crossmember, etc. Its been painted textured black.

I've run a couple sets and currently back to hyper-flash. Running as drl certainly burn these puppies out. I've run cheap and "nice" versions. Both get so hot they can melt plastic. I've switched to not running my drl and I turn my headlights on off maually. Hopefully one of us will find a more permanent solution at some point!

Why is this one discounted?

It was the original prototype and was run for a few weeks. So, there will be some light scratches, chipped paint, and a slightly different mounting crossmember. Its also a hair shorter in length than the production model will be.

It will still function 100% just like the original version though, but its a "used" bumper.

I've got a 50w and a 100w pair on the way. I'm happy to report back on what works. Failing that, it's my understanding that the drls can be turned off in Techstream

I'm guessing you and @WF09 have the automatic lights? I can pick to turn off the DRL's on the headlight stalk.

The 50W pair stopped the hyper-flash for me, and I just don't use the DRL's anyone to avoid running a load on the resistors and building up heat.

Yea, my DRLs are not automatic. They are controlled via the headlight switch. I assumed they were all like that.
