Adding DRL's, power source

Greetings All,
I added DRL's to my 3rd gen but am not happy with my source of power. I simply wanted a 12V source after ignition, not all the time (of course). Well I literally tapped the 12V source for my windshield wipers which has been okay except I now have an issue with the wipers not parking properly and after testing the motor with the jumper on pins 2 to 3 and putting a 12v source on pin4, the motor checks bad...unrelated?-most likely but now I would like to add-a-fuse in the engine fuse box to do this properly. I have looked at several wiring diagrams and some say the source for tail lights are on all the time, some say only after ignition...well that power is on all the time in fact I cannot find any fused systems from the engine fuse box that are on only after ignition then off with the key off (which is what I want). My question is are there any fused systems in that fuse box that are on after ignition then off when the key is turned off? If not...recomendation?

Pretty sure the engine bay fuse box is live all the time. The interior one is not.

Why are you "adding" power for drl? The 3rd gen comes factory with DRL.

Edit: I wired mine into the DRL Fuse with an add-a-fuse which is +12v switched source but I used an isolation relay so that the relay coil is wired to the +12v switched source, the power for the lights comes straight from the battery wired through the normally open contacts of the relay.

This way you don't put an extra load on the circuit you tap into, it just fires the relay coil. You could then add a second relay triggered from say the low beam headlight circuit to turn off you DRL's when the headlights come on. So DRL on with ignition, then off when main headlights are on.

3rd gens had DRLs starting only in 2000, except for Canadians, which had them all along.

Yes! Mine is originally a U.S truck but it is a 2000, either way the OP should be able to grab switched +12v from one of multiple sources to add in DRL's -under the hood the fuse for PWR outlet should be one, easy enough to check, mine is only powered with ignition on

thanx all for your input and yes, should have mentioned mine is a 99 therefore no DRL's. In the fusebox under hood I either checked all the fuses with a voltmeter or tried all the circuits without the key in and found they all are hot without the key. It just would have been much simpler as now it will take a firewall penetration and from all I have read on this forum, not the easiet to do. I will take care not to damage existing wiring.
