Adding heated seats?

Here's the factory wire setup for a 2002.
Seat Heater Wire Diagram
Look under driver seat for a plug. If it has 2 in one row, and four in the other, and one of the inside wires of the four is a red/black, then you have your wiring and that R/B is your 12+ for the seat heater. Switches and fuse connection would have to be added, but odds are the rest of the wires would be there, too.

Now this gives me real hope. That wiring diagram makes it look fairly straight forward. I've already got the passenger side switch and the drivers side switch is on order, should be on the UPS truck today from Boulder CO. I've got both lower elements and one upper element. My favorite parts gal is researching the wiring through the service managers/techs and/or vendors that do the installs for them. I'm on a mission.

Has anyone considered trying to install an after-market kit like one of these ones: Seat Heater for Cars and Trucks from HeatedSeatKits.com

I've been doing some research and it doesn't seem like too hard of an install. Some people have suggested that you don't have to take the upholstery off completely either. Just need some new hog rings and hog ring pliers. The quality seems to be good too.

I called my dealer parts counter today and they said it would be exspensive to part it together for some reason?

I might be going with the route posted above.

I may end up wishing I did, too. Not so much the expense, I get a good discount, but will it work? I've got a bit more hope since the 2002 lists the exact same part numbers as the 1999.

It seems that this link is no longer working. Anyone know of a suitable substitute? Sure could use some wiring help. Thanks in advance.

I installed Infiniti QX4 REAR heated seat elements and switches in the FRONT seats of my 97. The switches fit like they were designed to be there all along. Wiring was a bit tricky, but not torture. One of my favorite mods, especially with cloth seats.

Are the QX4 switches Hi/Off/Lo or just On/Off?

Edit: just noticed the wide white bar at the top of the switches and the narrow white bar at the bottom.

I want to do this!

Black cat,

How did the seat heaters end up work out for you? Is it worth doing and do you have any info on the wiring? I think I may do this one!
Thanks

They were AWESOME. Much better than the factory heated seats in my Lexus GX470 I have now. I don't have any info on the wiring, but it was a pain in the butt since the Infiniti wiring diagram I had was wrong. Once you get wiring sorted out, everything else was simple. The heated elements and switches fit perfectly.

Edit; I might have some pictures saved in my photobucket with wiring. I'll check in a bit.

Seat swap?

I have an '04 Sport. IF I get, from the bone yard, electric leather seats (with heaters), is the wiring harness already under the carpet for the electrics and the heaters?
I understand that for the newer models it is not....

I await your knowledgeable reply's...

Merry Christmas :=]

I added Rostra aftermarket heater to my '03 SE years ago - there was NO existing wiring there. Just get the harness when you pull the 2 heater control switches from the console. There will also be a 12v+ feed wire up to the fuse panel. I'm happy the Rostra setup. Switches match OEM ones --- but DO NOT light up with dash illumination or when on.

I actually made my own heated motorcycle seat once. The only thing that would be harder on the runner would be removing the current leather seat covers (motorcycle was stapled on). I used something similar to these:
2 Seats Universal Heated Seat Heater Kit Carbon Fiber Round Hi Lo Switch 12V | eBay

Small investment in parts and my time in the garage comes very cheap....

I've used these same ones one two vehicles now. They work excellently! I added wet Okoles to the runner with these underneath and it works awesome!
