Hey guys, yet again.

As most of you know I have a 03 4R. It didn't come with the factory nav, and I really want it. I wanted to know if I got a unit (From Toyota, of course, but off eBay or something) would it be plug and play or would I have to get the wires? :thanks:

Summary: You can plug in just about anything so long as you make sure you get the right one. If have JBL, then refer to the first post. If you don't, again, refer to the first post I made. It will show you which NAVs are the ones for your truck (for example, E7005, E7009, etc). Also, because your rig didn't come with the NAV, you WILL have to splice into your VSS, Back up signal wire, and Parking brake signal wire. All info is in those 2 threads. You may have to get a wire plug (one of the eBay vender should sell it to you if they have it, it's a 25 pin (i think, I can't remember) plug. Otherwise, it's plug and play! If not, no biggie, you just won't have the Bluetooth/Rear Camera working. Also, don't forget you will need a GPS antenna, preferably from Toyota. Ebay venders usually have them (sometimes they sell it with the unit). There all some floating around on ebay, you have to check periodically for a good deal. I got mine for $700. Dealer cost: $4k+. I saw one on ebay the other day for $1500. Some on the forum will say screw it, get an aftermarket for that price.................. whatever, sorry, I'm rambling..........

Happy TurkeyDay............

I don't have JBL, or the steering wheel audio controls for that matter lol. So My guess is I would need E7019 – Corolla/RAV4 Navigation: Single disc, Plug n Play (non-JBL), Buttons light Orange. (I would get the Rav4 because I want the color to match the other color in the truck) .

Thanks for the links.....and since I don't have JBL would I need the GPS antenna?

Oh, and the back up wiring..... what it that for? Actually putting it in R or for the back up lights? And I take it the E brake signal wire it for the light on the dash?
Thanks!

Hope your Turkey Day was good too!

Yes, the E7019 is an analog one (non JBL) so it should be plug and play. The VSS helps the unit track you better. The reverse signal is to "tell the camera" to turn on and helps tracking (I had a JVC NAV in my former Grand Cherokee and I had to install that too even though it didn't have back up camera inputs) and the brake signal, well, I can't remember, but the many GPS require it's connected. As far as a GPS antenna, you need it regardless of having a JBL amp or not.

If I see more turkey meat, I'm going to vomit...........................:hungry:
