Adding Power Outlet (120v)

I have an 06 4Runner SE with the AUX port in the console, but no 120V AC power outlet. I found this part online (linked below) that should fit in the 4Runner, but was wondering what else I might need to complete this project. Is there an inverter to purchase or specific wiring harness? I noticed there were some empty harnesses in the console that come off of the wiring that powers the 12v adapter. Anyone ever done this before, or worked on this?

Can't tell from that link what the heck it is even for.
If you want to hook up an inverter, you can't just use any 12V source, it will have to be able to handle the demands of the size (current capacity) of the inverter you choose.

Would using a cig lighter socket work? If you get one of the inverters that plugs into a cig socket, shouldn't you be able to gut the male plug on the inverter and tap into the power for the cig socket since it was meant to go there anyway?

Yeah, that could work, as long as you do not use the lighter at the same time the inverter is being used.

I put an extra 12v adapter in the console box, just for the inverter... works great for my laptop. i can also place the inverter into the rear 12v too.. i have two extras back there too.

I find that the portable inverters are more flexible than having them built in or suquirreled away under the panels... IMHO..
