Adding USB port for indash audio

Dual USB port for the dash

I installed one of these dual 2.1A USB ports on the front dash area just below the hazard light button. It works for both iPhone and Samsung S7. Just removed the dash AC controls to get access and drilled the hole in the panel in an area with clearance. I also added a second one that displays the voltage of my 2nd battery. The same company also makes a rocker button style.

I did something similar today, but wanted an xtra USB port for charging 2 USB's at the same time in addition to connecting to my Kenwood. I did have to run separate power to the charge slot, but an add-a-fuse made that pretty straight forward.

Got it done with minimal issues. The temperature was to blame for most of the issues. Sweaty hands don't hold on to things too great.

Follow up question

Hello,

I have a 2007 Limited 4runner. I want to add an option to connect my iphone XR through usb and charge/play music through the chord. I was going to upgrade the entire stereo but I have the JBL system and would have to buy additional harnesses and an amplifier. I am trying to save money and really all I want is to be able to do is play music through a chord connected to my iphone. My 4runner comes with an aux port in the center console but no usb. Is it possible to change the aux to a usb. Also while doing my research I saw that in the back of the factory stereo there is a plug in for usb, is there an adapter or something that I can plug into that and route a usb that allows me to play audio not just charge my phone? Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you!

Hi thanks for the reply. That is a cool website, however it didn't have what I am looking for. Basically I just want to be able to plug in a module that goes into my factory radio and gives me a USB to plug into from my center console. Any other ideas?
