Additional Interior Lights

Ok, I searched the FAQ and didn't find my answer. I am wanting to add light to the interior. My current plan is to add two additional stock cargo lights on either side of the stock one, to give me three lights in the cargo area (nice thing about the stock lighting is it allows me to manually control the additional light if i want). Then possibly one over each passenger door (depends upon how difficult this project is).

So my question is will the stock wiring/fuse/amp allow me to simple splice into the stock cargo light with another two?

I thought about simply upgrading the stock bulbs, but was afraid it would generate too much heat and melt the lens (is this accurate?).

Thanks in advance.

the way to do it right would be to run new wires, but its poooossssiiibbbllleee that the factory wiring can handle the additional current draw.

I would check the wattage / amperage on the additional lights and get back to me

I think if you use LEDs for your lights you'll be ok given their low current draw.

If you're going with regular lights, you might need to rerun wires and add a relay if you want the OEM light to trigger the additional lights.

x2. LEDs would be the easiest and safest way.

Would the low current of the LED allow for additional fixtures without upgrading wiring?

If by "additional fixtures" you mean "a few LEDs", then the answer would be yes.

If you mean a blender, incandescent lamp, and dishwasher, then the answer would be..... probably not.

So much for the stage lights and brass pole in back. Ok, so a couple are good, cool. I'll do a search for LED light suppliers.
Thanks.
