Additional Roof Rack Cross Bars

Our local Pick-A-Part had a 1997 4Runner come in just a few days ago. I went over and stripped the roof rack and rails, the rear lift-gate glass and the charcoal/vacuum canister. I also got a few small items. I am taking the roof rack (less the plastic parts) to a powder coat guy and get everything stripped/sand blasted and powder coated. I will then use the two additional cross rails to have four cross rails acorss the roof. It might look like overkill but why the hell not? I only spent a total of $25 for the whole roof rack and it might provide a little extra protection.

The charcoal canister is for sale if anyone needs one....

I wanted an extra one just to add a little versatility to the rack, and allow me to keep the front and rear bars at full spread front to back.

Thanks for the pics man! I am liking the extra cross bars. I think it looks pretty awesome. Did you use black paint on yours or is that bedliner? Couldn't really tell from the photos.

Yep [MENTION=44707]FoneRunner[/MENTION] gave me his when he got his Gobi so i added them when i had my roof basket for a little more support. Been running without the roof basket recently so i can fit into my garage.

Mine have not been refinished... the finish that's on there is what came from the factory.

while i dont have the extra tower cross bars installed(i have them in my garage thought), i have the extra 3 cross slats, and i like them for being able to put things in the roof without them being directly on the roof and having more of the load spread out.

there is actually 6 but in that pic the front one is concealed by the tower crossbar
