Adios transmission???

ya im really hoping i don't need it either.. been riding with it for probably about a month n half now and haven't heard any weird noises in neutral yet.

hopefully getting it checked out tomorrow we'll see what happens

Well mine made the noise of death after pulling a trailer with a massive lawn mower on it...so avoid towing lawn mowers at all costs...haha

Also, my transmission finally came in....so should be ready this weekend and I can start driving my car again.

Well.. took it to a tranny shop took a ride and had them listen.. They said it was Planetary failure and ill need a full rebuild or a new tranny:dammit:

Still seems to be shifting fine but he said it could go out at any time.

Sorry to hear that. Mine was shifting fine as well. I don't really know the risks of just continuing to drive it...so you might want to consider that.

I am looking at around $2500-3000 for a remanufactured tranny (from dealership, with warranty), radiator, and getting it put in...FML.

Used is definitely cheaper but the same thing could happen to it. I had to think a lot about what I wanted to do....in the end I decided that once the transmission was replaced I should be good to go for a loooooooong time.

I think at this point if it's confirmed that it's the gears buy some triple a for $ 50 and drive it till it breaks , the gears are so deep in the trans that when they go everything else is protected , the thing is they can go in a day or in three months , who knows ....get triple a and cover yourself ....they also will let you sign up when your already broken down so you could just wait for it to go then sign up ....just an fyi ...

I would advise against this if you're trying to rebuild yours as I'm sure $ 500 is an estimate for parts , as you never know until you get in there how bad it is...if your rebuilding yours check into upgraded clutch packs and valve bodies , the torque convertor not so much but clutch packs for sure ...might as well beef it up a bit while your there .

My trans experience comes from the torque flite series of trans. Not be so much the toys so you may want to ask around about such things . But upgraded clutch packs are always good imo.
