Adjustable Panhard Bar Design Idea, Safe?

Thought I would post this up and get some feedback (hopefully from people with engineering backgrounds) as to whether or not this would be safe/feasible.
I don't have any drawings or pictures but in short the idea is:

1) Cut an OEM Panhard in half.
2) Thread first ~2 inches of each half
3) Get a tube with inner diameter matching outer dia of Oem bar and thread the inside of that tube.
4) Get two nuts to lock it tight
5) Assemble it all.

Any feedback is welcome but please try and make it constructive I know posts like this often receive opinionated responses. :)

Coming from an engineering student I would try to modify the ends of the bar to be adjustable similarly to the aftermarket ones. You will have a stress concentration in the center of the bar then. I would cut off the the ends and weld in grade 8 hardware. Ill have a write up shortly hopefully It is hard to explain this in the middle of family Christmas lol.
 
Simply: Modify the end of the panhard, not the middle.

Less simply: If you have an error in aligning the two pieces, the amount of deflection caused by that error will be greater in the middle than on the end (assuming the error is the same). That larger deflection then causes a larger moment (torque) on the bar.

If you just extend the bar in the middle and put a larger tube with an ID that's the same as the stock bars OD and weld it on I think you will be fine since the larger tube will keep the two halves aligned. Regardless it's safer to go as far from the middle as you can, especially for taping a hole in my opinion since you can easily run the tap a little offset to the hole (in my experience anyways haha). EDIT: What I would do is similar to what MTD said, just chop off one end, weld a nut onto it, and then thread the joint and locking nut on. You only need one end adjustable anyways and that saves time and money, as well as being less complex and reducing additional errors (if you had both ends adjustable).
