Advice for lift + tires

I searched around but couldn't quite find what I'm seeking.

Current plan is to get a ToyTec BOSS 3" lift with LR UCAs. I plan on keeping my stock 16" rims. I plan on getting General Grabber AT2 tires -


but curious what's the biggest size for on 16" rim WITH 3" lift?

I thought I read you need a 17" rim to fit 33" tires...is this true?

Check out the stickies on here to see all the pre-lift maintenance you'll want to tackle before even considering a lift.

33" tire simply refers to the outer diameter of the tire itself. The inner diameter corresponds with the size of the wheel that the tire is mounted on. For metric sizing, 285/75/16's or 285/70/17's both equal a 33" tire.

Have you owned a lifted vehicle before, especially one with IFS? 4runners are very temperamental once lifted and require lots of mods and maintenance to end up with a functional vehicle.

Your truck will ride worse than before, be slower, tip over easier, get worse mileage, require non-reversible mods, handle worse, be harder to align. The only actual benefit you'll gain is increased ground clearance for offroading. The Grabber tires are especially heavy and stiff, further exaggerating the side effects.

What's your budget and goal? How long have you owned your 4runner? What have you done to it so far?

Well when you put it that way it sounds horrible haha. It's not as bad as he made it seem. But id try searching this forum before you post a thread, the guys here get tired of new guys not knowing how to search for stuff. You can fit a 33 on 16 inch rims, but I'm not sure on what's the biggest you can go with 16 inch rims, but I'm sure it's in the forum somewhere. Happy searching!

don't over do it and go with whats more economical. if your on the road 80% of the time, get tires that wont eat up and remember the fender wells, to big of a tire might cost you on flexxx.:wacko:

Im definitely leaning toward the BOSS toytec kit over the OME kit

ya. plus the adjustable coilovers are the best part

Best of both worlds is run the coilovers up front with the LC coils out back and tokico shocks. IMO best ride on and off the road.

I have 270k miles on mine, and my endlinks have broken, so I have no sway bars, front or rear. When I lift mine and get new endlinks, there is no possible way it could handle worse than it does now
