Advice needed for 4Rnr TE accessories

If he has talked about doing a retro fit for HIDs for the headlights I have my original pair you can put on the truck while the nice ones get retro fitted. I will be glad to send them on to you, they are just taking up space in the garage.

Agree with this one too. I did all interior lights, plus the puddle lamps. I especially like the 2 LED map lights.

Our family was hit this year with a similar situation when a close member became a double amputee in A-Stan. (Prayers for Sgt. Jordan Fomar)

At any rate, I'm familiar with the groups around and would still like to do something for your husband, as we now share a common interest. If we were closer, I would simply buy him a beer or pick up his dinner tab. No way to do that from Texas. At any rate, the offer stands.

Additionally, I have a set of N-Fab steps in the for sale section that I would gladly donate to his truck. I would have to figure out a way to package them for shipment, but I would be glad to look into it. Once again, you can have them for the shipping cost if he likes them. I will be putting some new sliders (steps) on the truck at the end of the month to replace these, so maybe I can use that packaging to ship yours - only if he likes them.

On another note, everyone seems to be pretty much in agreement that the floor mats are a must-do modification, and I know it's something functional he wants. The other big consensus seems to be the LED conversion. On the Explorer forum, I know a few people have done it and it has turned out a bit wonky...lights not completely turning off, etc. Sounds like it goes a bit better on the T4R? That would be really cool, especially if it's something I could do myself! I will look more into that.

No worries on getting back to me. Nothing is that urgent - ever. No need for donations. Let me work on finding a way to pack them up for shipment. I will then give you the dimensions and weight so you can decide how you want them shipped.

I agree with the Weathertechs although I would probably try black next time as my light gray ones are are starting to look kind of stained from mud and grease that won't scrub out on my side but I've had them almost 3 years now.

Thanks for your service, my friend. These heroes, like lira's husband, are not at all recognized as they should be. We eulogize/glamorize doper celebrity deaths and reality tv show participants while our soldiers all too often fall through the cracks. It's a damn shame.

Sorry to get on a soap box. I just want to do anything I can, whenever I can, to give something back to this men and women - hoping maybe the spirit will catch with others.

Yay!! I just placed the order for the WeatherTechs for the 1st and 2nd rows and the Husky cargo liner for the sliding tray. Now on to check out the LED conversion thread!! I have the morning off today so I am excited to be making some progress. I was driving home from work Sunday night ( I have an 80 mile commute) and in one of the small towns there was a large pickup with massive lights on the roof. It must have been a football field and a half away from me but this thing's lights made it look like daylight!! Holy cow! Not sure we need that much light but it definitely made me think we'll be needing to add some of that goodness to Billy (aka Billy the Goat, my husband's chosen name for the 4Rnr.

I'm Canadian I know, but I travel to Florida at least once, sometimes twice a year, and if wasn't for men and woman like your husband, this world would be a scary place.

That aside, it's next month. Has it been the 10 year anniversary yet and does he love the Weathertech's? I know I love mine, so I hope he does!

The WeatherTechs and Husky liner came in and were immediately placed (with a huge grin) in the 4Rnr by my hubby. A little hard to hide those boxes! Really enjoying the spider-net as well. He has also discovered that Plasti-Dip is available at Ace Hardware and has been watching videos and reading various threads on the best way to go about blacking out badges, etc. Really excited about the sliders and I absolutely cannot thank you enough. Will send the PM with our address right after this post. The fella has definitely caught Gobi rack fever...that one will be a ways off. And I have heard some rumblings about upgrading the speaker system as well.... definitely started something here...OH NOOOOOO!!!:fear:

Update!!

This Sunday, April 21st is Mine Day!! 10 years! I actually can't believe how excited I am about this...10 years my husband survived, no, thrived even when horrible people made horrible devices to devastate lives. I am beyond disturbed by this week's events in Boston and I can tell you that the way those family's lives have just been completely derailed is something that stays with you...but you do move on...and that is what Sunday is all about.

So here's a little update on how the 4Runner is coming along:
We bought PlastiDip to blackout the badges...but now the fella is thinking he might wait a little while. Weathertechs for the interior came in (pics below) and the Husky mat for the back also came in. Spider net installed on the sliding cargo tray (pics) and of course, thanks to [MENTION=54511]AutoRotate[/MENTION] and [MENTION=51186]philsey[/MENTION], the truck has fancy new NFab steps!!! So excited!!
