Advice on price of a 2014 trail

Hey guys, I need your advice on a 4Runner I might be aquiring.
Through patience and the power of non-urgency, I was able to get this dealership to lower their price of a certified 2014 4runner with 12k miles on it from 35,600 (out the door roughly 39) to 36 out the door by telling thrm what I could afford to leave with it. So I am looking at 36 keys in hand including taxing and licensing.

Here is the tuck :
City of Industry, CA 2014 Toyota 4Runner Trail Certified SUV serving Los Angeles, CA serving Riverside, CA Puente Hills Toyota & Scion | 56836AB | JTEBU5JR5E5178452

She's pertty...
What do you guys think? Good deal?

Thanks! Though I don't usually value true car they seem to be on the right number. Most dealers don't honor true car, or else I'd be picking a '15 up for 33k according to them

Seems like you could get a new one for the same amount in my experience. Granted it was DC and not LA, but for my '14 non premium I agreed on $34k before tax/title. BTW I got it under Truecar's number.

Agreed on both you can get a new one for that and the TrueCar experience - I bought mine for a few pennies under TrueCar in San Diego using TrueCar as the starting point. Cut 95% of the negotiation out of it. If nothing else I can give you the name/info for the guy I used at Toyota of El Cajon. Spending the same money and getting a new truck seems like it would be worth a drive down to San Diego.

I got my 15 TE with KDSS for $35,500 in Vegas. I would hold out for new even if it cost $500-$1000.

That's about what I paid here in PHX too before TTL.

If that '14 doesn't have KDSS, that's not a great deal and I'd just buy new for a few bucks more. If it does have KDSS, it's halfway reasonable, but still not a fantastic deal.

I'm going to go ahead and echo everyone's sentiments. I'm about to pick up a '15 TE w/out KDSS tonight, haven't signed anything, and was at $36k Wednesday night when I left the dealership and told them I'd think about it, but I'm going to see about working them down even moreso based on True Car, and some of the posts in here.

My new 15 Trail, no KDSS just hit my dealer's lot about 2 hrs ago. $34,500 with upgraded Entune and crossbars for roof.

Paid 35,800 for my TE w/ KDSS and Nav in Jan. I think you should be able to get that one for 34,500.

sadly when I bought mine I didnt get the anniversary discount.

but with my options and the way my dealer sells cars I still paid $1000 less than truecar w/ the anniversary discount back in dec-2013 for a exact same optioned 2015 LE as of today on truecar.

just remember truecar is just one data point. you need to grab others to get a general ball park number.

and the anniversary discount helps for while its still active :

LE = -1000
TEP = -750
TE = -95
SR5P = -750
SR5 = 0

$36K might not be bad since it includes tax and license fees. CA taxes of at least 7% and titling fees makes it a better deal than some are making out. I paid $34,200 for my 2015 Trail (no KDSS) but that did not include tax and fees. You have to consider all the fees before committing.

Also look at finance fees. Used car rates are usually higher than new and using the Toyota Finance service can get you a pretty low rate on new cars.

I went through the same decision process of used vs new. Came to the conclusion that new is better even if you have to pay a few thousand more.

I paid $35,680 for my 2015 Trail with the AW mats and cross-bars. This included the $199 admin fee my dealer adds to every sale. They also gave me $29K for my 2014 Cherokee Trailhawk which was more than KBB trade value.

I know I didn't get the lowest possible price, but it was good enough for me, and no dikking around.

Just curious, why'd you get rid of the Trailhawk?

(I almost bought one of those a year ago....)

You guys are getting some good deals elsewhere. Here in Colorado they sell them often before they are even on the lot and there is very little reason for the dealers to negotiate much on price. The SR5's and Limiteds they are more flexible on but the TE and TRD.... Nope.

I wanted a real truck! That, and I developed a lack of faith in the Cherokee platform.

I can feel that. I was about 30 seconds away from ordering one before I decided that a Fiat car platform with an unproven nine speed transmission probably wasn't the way to go.

I don't regret that decision for a second.
