I have had my rack on for about 6 months. Its the standard basket. I was re torquing my bolts yesterday and i discovered this. It look it was caused by stress. Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I tried to contact Baja Rack but no answer after 5 attempts. I the sent an email with these pics asking for an explanation. Oh, I have not had anything loaded on my rack yet. Saving money for a tent. Once again thank you for any input.

It seems like the issue with Baja Racks is still around. Have you compared your mounts to the mounts some of the folks earlier in the thread got as a replacement?
I was looking for info about the usefulness of a Baja Utility Rack vs Baja Standard Basket. But if your purchase was just 6 months ago, it looks like their tooling machine needs to be replaced, and I'm wary about buying a baja rack now.

Question for anyone who currently bought a Baja rack this past year, have you noticed any indentation with the UT rack? Also does anyone know of a comparable fullsize mesh UT rack? Reason I ask I want to buy a full size rack after I learned my car only has roof rails and no cross bars ;_;

Ive had my BajaRack for a long time, Id guess about 7 years now. Never experienced the issues above. The only complaint is that the powder coating is JUNK! It's been flaking off for years now and started early on after the initial install. Other than that, it's a great rack. If I were to do it again, I'd go aluminum for weight savings.

Nope, never had this issue either with my low profile rack. I didn't overtorque my bolts either though :yo:
