With my Viper system, I needed to buy another part (wasn't much, don't remember price exactly) and the installer was able to program the Viper remote. I think it is function 4 for me, but the truck must be running for it to work. Not a big deal, just remote start it when using the back window.

that would not work for me..we go grocery shopping a lot and we would like to lower the window, put stuff in n then go back shopping .. I'm sure there is a way to lower it down even when the vehicle is off....... thanks for you input tho

There is both a wire that opens and one that closes without the need for ign power. (think physical key turn). I haven't done this yet for my 4Runner but it is on my list. I've installed dozens of these in the past. When I get to it, I'll write a DIY.

I started installing a Viper remote start, hard to find time working two jobs but hoping to get the rear window feature too. I've found a lot of install info, all cryptic and incomplete, so I have to track down each wire and carefully verify it is what I need, bleh. I may just pay someone, hate to do it.
