After market power inverter + aux in the cargo

Hey there, I am going to do a power inverter mod in the rear of my 06. I would also love to make an aux jack in the back for tailgating, and outdoor events. I am thinking audio out would also be good for other speakers. I am looking for a possible face plate with a 120v power socket that also has 1/8 aux inputs. Any suggestions? What do yall think?

Not sure exact what your lookin for but I run a big inverter under the hood directly the the battery to run a mini coffee maker when camping. The rig has to be running to get a full brew and still be able to re start. But did add one of these to the rig last week. Yet to see if it will be powerfull enuff to make java? Great to charge the phone and run a little camp light. I've been testing it's limits this week. Says it only take 4 hours to fully recharge - we'll see.

Some depends on what you will be using it for. The most efficient and safer type is a PureSine Wave type. A typical inverter delivers very "dirty" current. Definitely not good for a computer or other sensitive electronics.

In regards to the Aux out plug have you thought about duplicating the Aux port in the center console?

What inverter do you have under the hood?

The inverter is a Black&Decker 700watt. In the 5 years it's only been used to brew the mini coffee pot.

But I forgot to mention that I made my DC port in the back live - with a switch (cause I left the key on a few time doh!). Easy to tell if it's on ha.

Ran a coffee test with the Powerpack - it was a bust. Worked perfect for 3/4 of a pot then the inverter started whining. The heat element is a real power suck. Here's a pix of when it was running great.

It's said to have a auto off to prevent total loss of power that could hurt the battery. I'll plug the Sirius satelite radio - another camp luxury. Anxious to see how long will run.

Make sure if you use any inverter in the vehicle regularly that it has proper airflow.

This^^ plus a good double check of the power port connections. If it was me I would install my own fusible link before the power port. I have seen some ugly stuff that an inverter has done due to poor wiring or bad installations.

Inverter in the center console

My suggestion is to forget about putting one in the back. Its a PITA to get at the factory location for the stock inverter..ugh. I put mine in the console, its a Wagan 2200 ... fits great and I can take it out and move it or use it elsewhere.

I put in 12v cig into the bottom of the console and both fit just fine.
