Aftermarket Air Filter

Pull your wallet back out...I DISAGREE! Ponder this...MOST aftermarket intakes are dyno proven, they also have to stop a minimum size dust particulate (maybe not quite as good as paper), they are reusable (some require a re-oil) and they sound awesome! So you do the math, a $12.99 fram paper air filter every 5-10k = 130-260 dollars in your first 100k!! Most toyotas run alot longer than that! So why not have the performance and save the money? Ive never heard the diagnosis "my engine finally crapped out at 300k, it must have been that cold air intake that killed it". Ludacris. :biggrin2:

According to this sales pitch, the True Flow foam filter actually gives you less air but better protection. I think the guy really nailed it when he said that the sole purpose of an air filter is to protect your engine; but then after that why does he go on to advertise a CAI?

I am as big of a noob to this stuff as you can get:nerd:, but wouldn't the gains by the CAI be canceled out by their foam filter?

I don't think you can trust their dyno comparison b/w the 3 filters, as the whole video is just a sales pitch.

If I was to get a CAI (which isn't likely after some of the negatives I'm reading) it would be just for sound, the t4r isn't a race car people. But wouldn't the reduced airflow dampen the throaty sound many people get with CAI's?:bonk:
