Aftermarket bluetooth microphone

The Bluetooth microphone on my 2012 SR5 appears to be working poorly. Every time I speak with anyone while on the highway (or other roads), I get continual comments on how they have trouble hearing me and how there is a loud buzzing noise. For the first year or more, I got the occasional and usual Bluetooth comments about how it sounded like I was in a hallway, but nothing like these comments.

First, I would like to know where the microphone is located to check it for problems. I guess I should make some calls to the same people while I am standing still and while the engine is off to see if wind/road noise or electrical/engine interference is part of the problem.

Second, I would like to know whether anyone has upgraded their stock microphone too improve the sound quality?

The mic is up in the overhead console. It's not a standard setup so you can't really replace it with anything else. You might pull down the console and see if there's anything up there that's causing interference. Mine was fine while I used it

Thanks, so how do I pull the console? Are there screws/bolts underneath some of the console panels?
