Ok, since buying my 4Runner yesterday, I have installed a valor exhaust tip, 20% tint on front windows, replaced sport shifter with limited leather shifter, installed cargo envelope net, first aid kit, and emergency roadside kit. Next is Revos and seatcovers. But, I was also thinking about an aftermarket air filter. So, is the K&N or Amsoil air filters worth it? Benefits (if any)?

Paul, I'm curious. What did the Limited leather shifter set you back? I see the TRD one is about $75 and doesn't appear to screw right on w/o an adapter of some sort. I have a 2006 Sport and was thinking about the factory leather shifter knob.

I have the TRD drop-in which is constructed a little better then the K&N. Doesn't mean it filters better. I would recommend you check to see if the new "Ea Filter" is available from Amsoil (with nanofiber technology). On paper they look to be the best filter on the market today. Check it out, you will need the OEM stock number.

Actually, the dealer let me swap out a limited shifter with my sport shifter at no charge. I dont know if he is ordering another one for the Limited model, but for now, he just put my sport shifter on it. I guess it was one of those "whatever it takes to do the deal" situation. I told him that I really wanted the leather shifter that comes on the Limited and he said, "no problem...take this one off and you can have it". Maybe I should have asked him to swap out the leather seats tooclaydoctor said:

Jason, isn't it true that the 2006 V8 has LESS horsepower but only because they recalculated the numbers. They haven't changed the engine in any way.
Claydoctor, that is correct. The 06' states less horses compared to the 05' as far as horsepower. The difference is the way that auto manufacturers are now being made to calculate more concise numbers (both horses and torque). My service manager explained to me that Toyota had the higher horsepower numbers based on Premium unleaded gas. Therefore, because of the high gas prices, Toyota is now stating that "regular" unleaded is acceptable but premium is preffered. So, the new configuration is based on regular unleaded fuel. At least, thats what my dealer stated...can anyone confirm this?claydoctor said:
